The Difference You Can Make Right Now - Support Santa Clara Vanguard!
As we approach the holiday season, we’re reminded of the many gifts that shape our lives, including the life-changing experiences that Santa Clara Vanguard provides to young musicians and performers. This Giving Tuesday (December 3rd), we’re reaching out to invite you to support Vanguard and help keep our legacy strong.
Since 1967, Santa Clara Vanguard has been dedicated to inspiring excellence in music and the performing arts, creating unforgettable experiences, and building life skills in thousands of young people. As a supporter, you understand the passion, dedication, and discipline it takes to be part of Vanguard. Now, we’re asking for your help to continue providing this unique and transformative experience to future generations.
This Giving Tuesday, help us reach our goal of raising $20,000! Your donation will:
- Fund scholarships for members in need, ensuring that no performer is turned away due to financial challenges.
- Support our commitment to safe travel, accommodations, and healthy meals for all members during their training and tour.
- Maintain and upgrade our instruments, uniforms, and equipment, giving members the tools they need to perform at the highest level.
- Provide opportunities for educational clinics and workshops, allowing us to mentor the next generation of performers and music educators.

SCV Program Update

This past weekend, the Santa Clara Vanguard kicked off the 2025 audition season with satellite events throughout the US. Our brass saw potential members in Buena Park, CA, Santa Clara, CA, and Cullowhee, NC, while the cymbals held a one-day audition at the Corps Hall and the color guard had potential members spinning and dancing with the FIU World Guard in Miami, FL.
Audition events continue this weekend with color guard satellite auditions in Montebello, CA and Santa Clara, CA. You can register for these events and more, including brass in Oklahoma, percussion in Texas, and color guard in Georgia, by visiting our JOIN 2025 page!

Make a Difference for 'Someone' in 2025

It’s that time of year again and before you know it, the holidays will be upon us! Time will fly by, and all of a sudden, we’ll be singing Auld Lang Syne and toasting in the New Year! January 1st also marks the opening of the 2025 Hall of Fame nomination period. Have you started thinking about who you’d like to nominate yet?
We all have ‘someone’ we believe should be inducted into the VMAPA Hall of Fame and often question why they aren’t already in it. The answer may be as simple as no one has ever nominated them. The bottom line is that if you want to see your ‘someone’ inducted, it starts with your commitment to nominate them. To get started, it will take time to read the Application Instructions and Guidelines and Rules located under ‘Hall of Fame’ on the main menu of the scvanguard.org website. These documents will help you formulate a cohesive plan to submit your nomination packet. You will also need to reach out for letters of support from 3 individuals who believe as strongly as you do that your Nominee deserves to be recognized.
In an effort to assist those of you that would prefer to meet and discuss what’s involved in submitting a nomination packet, a Zoom meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov 30th at 10:00 am PST.
Attendance at the Nov 30th meeting is not a mandatory requirement to submit a nomination. What it is, is an opportunity to meet with the Committee, learn more about the application form, and obtain a better understanding of the screening, selection and voting processes. Hopefully, it will provide you with the confidence to get started, and at a minimum help you understand the importance of developing a plan before January 1st. Remember, the deadline for submitting a nomination packet is February 15th. To receive the Zoom invite and meeting materials, please email your contact information to hof@scvanguard.org.

Join the Decades Project – Help Us Tell the Story of Vanguard's Legacy of the 5's
The "Decades Project" is an ongoing initiative to document and share the stories, memories, and milestones that have defined the Santa Clara Vanguard over the years. From the early days in the 1960s to the present, every era of Vanguard’s history has contributed to the iconic legacy we celebrate today.
We need YOUR help! Whether you marched, volunteered, worked behind the scenes, or supported from afar, your experiences are an invaluable part of the Vanguard story. If you have memories, photos, videos, or memorabilia to share, we want to hear from you.
How Can You Contribute? Anyone interested in helping to tell the story of the 5's (1975, 1985, 1995, 2005 and 2015) is welcome!

- Share your personal stories or recollections from your time with Vanguard
