Session Description: Being an authentic ally isn't easy. There are barriers to becoming an authentic ally and there are risks involved with being one. Information is power and being equipped with the right information can help you figure out not just WHAT an authentic ally is, but what can prevent you from becoming one, what can happen with the space of being one, and how to find a space that is comfortable for you -- recognizing that all allyship comes with a level of discomfort.

Presenter Bio: Kimara Snipes is the Executive Director of One Omaha. Her background in community organizing and advocacy informs her work in a way that centers neighborhoods and their assets. Kimara served on the Omaha Public Schools board where she created Omaha’s first COVID-19 task force so that neighborhoods could bring information from the school district and health department to the community. She believes that all decisions start in neighborhoods.
