Friends,
Today is not the day we wanted. Nothing about this feels okay. The winds were against us, stronger even than we realized, but we did everything we could, and our candidates did everything they could.
And yet.
It wasn't enough to overcome the truly broken nature of this country.
Today is not for planning. Today is not for finger-pointing or even analyzing and learning lessons for the future, at least not for us.
Today is for grief, for anger, for deep, abiding, heartbreaking disappointment, for exhaustion and for fear. But it is also for checking in with each other, for dropping off flowers for a friend who worked so hard, or writing a thank-you note to those who you know gave it their all. It's for recognizing and being grateful for groups like this one, that help us feel less alone. It's for remembering we are in community, all of us, millions of us, and we are not giving up.
WE ARE NOT GIVING UP.
Let's be sad together right now, and then, together, we will recommit to the work ahead. Please save December 5th on your calendar when we will gather at the Grog to thank everyone for the hard work you put in, and stay tuned for next steps.
Onward.
Debbie, Boyd, Judy, and Dana
