This November, we are thrilled to attend the UN World Data Forum in Medellín, Colombia, from 12 to 15 November 2024. The Forum will bring together data leaders and experts from around the world, with the goal of driving data innovation, fostering partnerships, and mobilizing political and financial support for better data to advance sustainable development.

During the Forum, the Equal Measures 2030 coalition will be actively participating in two exciting panels and we will be hosting a launch event for the 2024 SDG Gender Index on the sidelines. This event will present the key findings for the Latin America and the Caribbean region, while bringing the impactful examples from our coalition members who are using data to drive change at both local and regional levels.

These days together offer a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, identify solutions, and discuss strategies for building a world where data makes stories visible. A world where data empowers organizations, activists, and policymakers to make informed decisions and drive positive, effective change.

Through the 2024 SDG Gender Index, we aim to shed light on how progress (or the lack thereof) is affecting the lives of women and girls across countries. We hope to inspire others by demonstrating how tools like the Index can help track gender equality, while also sounding the alarm that we cannot afford to wait 100 years to achieve a #GenderEqualFuture.

We look forward to seeing you in Medellín and joining forces to make this urgent call for gender equality even louder. Let’s connect and work together to ensure the world hears us!

Launching the 2024 SDG Gender Index in Kenya

On October 30th, our coalition members GROOTS Kenya and Data2x, led a national launch of the 2024 SDG Gender Index in Kenya. Bringing together grassroots champions, government officials, academia, and CSOs, we explored Kenya’s progress across the SDGs, shared strategies to bridge critical gaps and identified areas for collaborative impact.

It was an honour to be joined by so many people committed to building a sustainable, prosperous and gender-equal future.
