Letter from the Co- Founder
Hey TIOIT Tribe,
November always gets me in a cozy, feel-good mood. I pretend it’s sweater weather even here in SoCal, and there’s a sense of warmth in the air as people focus on gratitude, drive a little kinder, and smile a little more.
For those who don’t know me outside of the surf scene, I’m the artist behind TIOIT’s designs, a social art facilitator, and a therapeutic art life coach. One of my favorite practices is a meditation I call “Falling Up.” I know—it sounds strange, right? Most people think of “falling down” as a setback, but often, mistakes lift us to higher places, deepening our minds and hearts. The mistake becomes gold; it’s the payment of change.
If you’re going through something tough, here’s a simple exercise: find a leaf (real or fake), write your struggle or mistake on it, then dip your thumb in paint and make your mark over it. Take it outside and throw it up, symbolizing your release and rising above. This time of year has a way of making us introspective—it’s a busy season, yet perfect for cozy moments and reflecting on the awesomeness all around us.
And yes, it’s wetsuit season! Nothing beats that feeling of warming up after a chilly surf session. We’re so grateful for you all and for the amazing journey we’ve been on together. Just yesterday, we hit our one-year anniversary of getting accepted as exhibitors for the Surf Expo in Florida. It’s been a whirlwind since then, from designing collections and building our booth to trekking 3,000 miles across the country to let the surf industry know that TIOIT is here to make waves—and not just any waves. We’re bringing a hurricane! 🌊💥
Ride the storm, friends, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of the TIOIT family.
With love,
KrisT
