NEW STAFF MEMBER
We are excited to welcome new Saint Louis Sudbury School staff member Harry Taussig who just moved here from Massachusetts! He has experience as a facilitator, coach, long-time summer camp counselor, suicide hotline volunteer, and nonprofit event coordinator. Harry is passionate about cultivating healthy, empowering cultures. He also has a degree in computer science. We are so happy to have Harry at Sudbury!
Harry shared, "I find that kids have an authenticity and honesty that consistently makes me uncomfortable, and I’m excited to learn from that discomfort. When a kid unashamedly asks me for something, I’m faced with the discomfort of saying no when I want to. When a kid is making me uncomfortable by being loud, I’m faced with my discomfort around unashamedly asking for what I want. I’m excited to see and feel the thousands of tiny ways I’ve subtly stopped myself from being myself by being around these kids’ authenticity. I see this job as part of my path in discovering who I am and becoming more and more unconditionally loving. Outside of this job, I enjoy swing dancing, drumming, playing board games, playing basketball, meditating, reading political philosophy, and talking with my friends."

FALL FEST AT INTERSECT ARTS CENTER
Saturday, November 9, 11 am to 3 pm
3636 Texas Ave, St. Louis, MO 63118
Saint Louis Sudbury School is excited to be a part of Intersect Arts Center's Fall Festival and the Soup Competition! Inspired by parent volunteer, Charity Stone, who regularly works with Sudbury students on baking and cooking activities, our entry is a "Stone Soup" based on the European folk tale in which a poor traveler cleverly brings together people of a town to each share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal for all to enjoy--with the help of a "magic" stone. Saint Louis Sudbury School's families are contributing different ingredients for our soup and Charity, along with students, will figure out a way to make a delicious soup for guests at the Fall Fest to enjoy!
Much like the playfulness, community, and spontaneity that goes into making a tasty "Stone Soup," the Saint Louis Sudbury School community values play at any age as a key component to learn about oneself and their community, to spark and feed curiosity and creativity, and to practice being present and accepting of uncertainty.
Be sure to stop by Saint Louis Sudbury School's information table in the Dance Studio on the second floor at Fall Fest.
Intersect Arts Center's Fall Fest features free food, free beer, a free petting zoo, and free crafts! The family friendly event has live music from a variety of local bands, arts and crafts vendors, and exclusive open studio opportunities with some of the Intersect Arts Center artists. Plus, be sure to check out the coat drive, a free little library for children's books, and much more.
