Our Christmas Newsletter 2024
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Preparations are well underway here (we like to start early!) so diaries at the ready for all our festive events. But first, an Autumn update...

Residents created spook-tacular floral creations with pumpkins and fresh flowers all ready for our Halloween lunch (of meatball eyes and green pasta!) and monster mash party. We invited lots of little children to join us in their Halloween outfits. Everyone loved playing splat the spider together. There was lots of trick or treating candy and sweets, all washed down with beetle juice and boo-berry lemonade!
We recently welcomed Wye Valley Falconry to our home, where we were introduced to some beautiful birds of prey and even got to handle one of the owls called Marmite. The joy and amazement was truly noticeable as our residents got up close and personal with these magnificent birds. Such a memorable and insightful experience.
Elvis was in the building 🤩
Our lovely Jenny celebrated her 82nd birthday in style with her family and friends at Newstead, where she also renewed her wedding vows after 40 years of marriage! Our conservatory was the Little White Chapel and Elvis provided the singing. Such a wonderful day.
With the start of the new school term, children from a local school came to read and sing to residents. This was just the start of a fantastic collaboration with the school. We will be welcoming them again to join us for more fun. We all can’t wait!
Our yearly calendar has arrived hot off the press!
This year has been particularly emotional as four of our original artists are no longer with us. But their artwork will remain a loving memory of their participation in the creation of this amazing project.
This year's theme is "Guess the Song". Calendars (available from reception) are £10 each with proceeds going to our Residents Fund.
November and December events and activities

We have a weekly diary which includes regular activities such as our baking and gardening clubs, themed days, afternoon teas, salon and pampering time, Church services (Communion will be the first Wednesday of every month), art and crafts, painting and poetry, sensory therapy, yoga and movement sessions and one to one time.

We are welcoming Gail as our new lifestyle and well-being lead on 18th November. She comes with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. What a great time to get to know everyone, with all of our Christmas festivities!

Heritage Manor is ending the year on a high, receiving 10 awards at The Great British Care Awards 2024. For a second year, we have been highly commended in the Care Employer Category and other individual members of staff were also regional finalists or winners in their categories. Wonderful recognition of our hard work and dedication to providing excellent care.

“Firstly, a huge congratulations to our many winners at The Great British Care Awards 2024, from Best Chef to Best Care Newcomer, along with all of our Finalists. Very pleasing to see a lot of hard work being rewarded.

The recent Government budget was a huge blow to the care sector. Once again there was no planned support for the sector in the Chancellors speech and no recognition of the need to invest in social care. The National Care Association have said: “The promise of £600 million via the Local Authority route will make little impact to the current £8.4 billion black hole in the social care budgets. The reality is that when this is divided into the children, younger adults and older people parts of the sector, it will make a very small ripple….. It is really important to note that for each staff member employed earning more than £416 per week, the cost of employing them will now increase by £615 per annum.”

I am afraid that we will be seeing another significant increase to our costs in April, and I fear that some care operators will now struggle to continue."

Simon Patient, Managing Director of Heritage Manor
In response to the budget, Nadra Ahmed CBE and Ian Turner OBE, Executive Co-Chairs of National Care Association said:
We feel incredibly proud to have been awarded again a Top 20 Care Home in the West Midlands award for 2024 from http://www.carehome.co.uk Our home consistently scores 10 out of 10 in their online reviews, which praise our warmth and friendliness, outstanding person-centred care, dedication and professionalism.
