February is often referred to as the month of Love… with Valentines’s day around the corner some will celebrate and others will feel particularly lonely on Lover’s day.
Everyone wants that special someone to share their life with but often we have trouble connecting because of fears, and emotional issues. When we do not have a healthy relationship with the Self it is difficult to attract and maintain a healthy relationship with another! How can we expect someone else to love us if we cannot love ourselves? How can we expect others to want to spend time with us if we cannot stand our own company??
Louise Hay in her book “You Can Heal Your Life” states that there is no problem that does not stem from a lack of Self Love. Recently I heard the following quote which said it beautifully:
“The love you withhold is the pain you carry”.
There is much talk about the shift in consciousness happening on our planet, moving to a heart based reality. What does all this really mean to you? Is it just a lovely concept or a dream? For me it is a practical reality where one becomes aware that without earth and the sun we cannot survive as a species, just as without our physical body life as a human being is not possible.
When I was in Peru, the Shaman taught us that human beings are the product of a love affair between heaven and earth. For them this is considered the holy trinity, father sun, mother earth and us the children and all three are treated with great reverence.
We are the temple in which the energy of heaven and earth resides; through the practice of Reiki we open ourselves to receive universal light from source and connect with the life force energy from mother earth. When these two energies meet in our heart life flows in harmony. Doesn’t that sound heavenly?
Giving ourselves a Reiki treatment is an act of self-love that brings about a multitude of benefits on the physical, mental and spiritual level. It is often referred to as a soul massage.
