NEWS
This month, we welcomed back to campus our Executive MSc students, hosted the 100x Summit Day, held our first alumni reunion, and formally committed to a major pilot programme in SE Asia. It has been a remarkably successful (and busy) time!
The 100x Summit Day brought together 170 investors, mentors, and practitioners to watch 11 of our grantees pitch their innovative solutions to global issues and listen to Jeroo Bilimoria. It took place only a few weeks after the 100x team visited Singapore and agreed to a $2M two-year project to explore the potential of 100x SE Asia.
For the first time, we welcomed back alumni of our Executive MSc for two days of discussions including new Masterclasses from our faculty and a guest talk by Mark Malloch-Brown, and sharing insights from his involvement in the Bretton Woods at 80 initiative. And while our Exec MSc students were on campus, we held a timely discussion on the extraordinary 'year of elections' reflecting on the range of democratic contexts in their home countries.

Portal Abierto de la Empresa Social PAES (Portal Abierto de la Empresa Social) is a pilot initiative that brings together a community of individuals, collectives, and organizations interested in the diversity and potential of social enterprise in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. The online portal is a collaborative space for learning and growth, with research articles, reports, case studies, and tools for academics, professionals and policymakers.
Led by EMES International Research Network (where our MI academic Dr Kerryn Krige is a board member) and other Ibero-American networks and stakeholders, the portal is an important step in strengthening international partnerships and learning opportunities. By bringing the Spanish and Portuguese speaking social enterprise community together, the portal will bring diversity and support to this fast growing conversation.
Technical working group on social and solidarity economy (SSE) statistics
Work to strengthen standardised statistical measures for the social and solidarity economy (SSE) is progressing, with the UN Task Force convening a technical working group on SSE Statistics that will build on the outcomes of the 21st International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) on measuring cooperatives and the SEE. This is a significant research milestone for the Social and Solidarity economy, and will both quantify and legitimise its hybrid social, environmental and economic contributions.
