Beginning Acrylic

Acrylic paints offer an incredible variety of possibilities, whether you're interested in building textural layers in your work, applying fine glazes to create a jewel like depth of color, or anything in between, acrylics got you covered! This class will cover an array of techniques and materials that will enable you to fully explore your creative vision. In addition to medium specific instruction, basic artistic principles like color theory, composition, design and a whole host of other insights into making art will be covered by Mark in this fun and information rich exploration.

Join award winning collage artist, Mimi Damrauer, for a simple and fun day making Wax Resisted papers that are unlike any papers that you have ever seen!
Mimi will show you a super simple way to "Batik" papers with everyday tools. It's totally safe and way easier than the usual batik process.
You will create a large pile of gorgeous papers to use in your journaling, scrapbooking, notecards & other artistic projects! Papers include: Tissue Paper, Kraft Paper, Notebook Papers & several more!
Projects: We will make Collaged Adhesive Tapes and use these on some Notecard sets. These tapes are super versatile and so fun to make.
All supplies included for the class.
Batik Papers

Join us for a creative and relaxed atmosphere, featuring a live (clothed) model. No formal instruction, no pressure, and absolutely no critiques—just an enjoyable time to experiment and draw for your own pleasure alongside fellow TAL members.
Bring your favorite art supplies and $10 to cover the model fee.
Note: In this session, we will have a live (clothed) male model.

Creative Mondays is a different sort of class. It is meant to be a class where you can meet other members of the Terravita Art League as you work on your own paintings or two-dimensional art. You bring your own supplies, and work in any medium you wish. As the instructor, I will have an "idea starter" that you can choose to try for that week, or save for another time, or just discard. I envision an environment that is welcoming, where you can ask questions of myself (the instructor), discuss art theories, or just have the space and time to work on your art with like-minded individuals.

Join Mark on the days that work best for you—no weekly commitment needed!
For 6 sessions, students are invited to join Mark Christopher for an exploration into one of the FUNdamental elements of creating a work of art. From a foundational idea such as how to decide a subject matter, to more nuanced discussions on using colors and values to evoke emotion, each session will have a particular focus with demos, a short lecture, and more tips and tricks than you can shake a paintbrush at! Whether working on a personal project or developing a piece based on prompts from that week's focus, each student will be creating a unique work with insights and technical help in an open studio environment.

Tuesdays from 1 to 4 pm has been set aside for those artists working with oil-based clay to create sculptures. These clay sculptures can then be turned into a mold that can be made into bronze or resin sculptures. Information on this process will be available from the other artists in attendance. Artists supply their own materials. We look forward to establishing a group of sculpture artists, and this block of time is set aside for you!
