Two Outstanding MUN Sessions Last Saturday!
The Civitas staff looks forward to the High School Model UN sessions every fall for good reasons: the enthusiastic sign-ups, diversity of schools/school groups, quality of resolutions, and great participation of delegates. Sessions A and B of 2024 exceeded our expectations. Both groups were larger than those in the past at Browning Hall and we received far more resolutions for each session than in recent years. And most importantly, despite the microphones not working, delegates spoke loudly and clearly, keeping the sessions running as smoothly as possible with compromised audio. The variety of topics discussed included the Israeli-Palestinean conflict, refugee issues, vaccine distribution, the Marburg virus outbreak, the creation of an autonomous region in Albania for the Bektashi Order, The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons , and climate issues. There were many resolutions submitted that we did not have time to discuss. Students can resubmit them for our second semester HSMUN session, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 1. Mark your calendars! Details will be shared in the new year.

High School Model UN Session C is December 14
Resolutions due by midnight on Dec. 10
The final HSMUN event for first semester is Saturday, December 14, 9:00 am until noon at Webster University. Please sign up ASAP if you haven't already!
Important Reminders:
- Every delegate must sign up. Click here to reach the sign up on the Civitas website (located in the calendar on the Homepage). Anyone who is not signed up will have to wait until all delegates check in before we can determine if there will be seating space for you.
- Resolutions are due by midnight, Tuesday, December 10.

Meet a Former UN and NATO Peacekeeper!
Civitas is excited to introduce students to Bill Wallace, a former UN/NATO Peacekeeper in Bosnia in the 1990's, on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Crossroads College Preparatory School (map) from 10:00 am until noon. Bill will highlight his experiences and share updates of current UN Peacekeeping operations. He is excited to answer student questions about his past and current experiences working to bridge cultures and foster peace.
