Registration for America Abierta ends tomorrow!

For the first time, this major event will be held in Brazil, bringing together leading regional and international conferences focused on open data, transparency, open government, and civic technology. The program includes events such as ABRELATAM/CONDATOS, CODA.Br, Brazil Data Week, and the Open Government Meeting.

2025 Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting 

Registration is now open for the 2025 OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting, taking place in Manila from February 5-7, 2025. Hosted by the Government and Civil Society of the Philippines, this event will bring together leaders from government, civil society, and international organizations to advance open government reforms and address key challenges across the region.

2025 Africa and the Middle East Regional Meeting 

The Government of Kenya will host the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting in Nairobi from March 25-27, 2025. Attendee registration will be limited to invited participants.

Last month, OGP Local celebrated World Cities Day by highlighting initiatives from our members supported by People Powered's Climate Democracy accelerator that involved youth participation.

🌏 Local roundup

Madiun (Indonesia), Elgeyo Marakwet, Kakamega (Kenya), Oriental Region (Morocco), Yoff (Senegal), and Ouellé (Côte d'Ivoire) are actively involving citizens and stakeholders in the co-creation of their OGP action plans.

OGP Local members and the National OGP Secretariat in Indonesia came together for a two-day camp to share lessons and strengthen their capacity on open government, while the new Local members in the Philippines came together to learn from South Cotabato’s pioneering experience in OGP Local.

- Vanadzor (Armenia) has launched an innovative online map highlighting accessible public buildings for people with disabilities, as part of their OGP commitment to promote inclusivity in the community.

- Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (Ecuador) and Mendoza (Argentina) shared innovative open government practices to accelerate sustainability and climate action during a webinar organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

- Hamburg (Germany) met with Kosovo’s Minister of Local Governance and Administration and Head of Digitalization to discuss digital transformation in municipal services and share how the OGP Local process can support it. 

- OGP Local members were among 126 local governments in Morocco that participated at the National Conference on Open Local Governments organized by the Ministry of Interior, with the support of PAGOF. During the conference, participants engaged in workshops on citizen participation, communication, monitoring, and networking.

- Join the Africa-MENA Network of Open Local Governments first open online session on Infrastructure Transparency. The session will be led by Kaduna State, Nigeria, on Monday, December 9. Register here!

- The Government of Albania hosted the OGP Western Balkans Meeting 2024 in Tirana from November 14–15. Organized in partnership with ReSPA, the meeting brought together 60+ high-level representatives of government, civil society leaders, and policy-makers from across the region to exchange experiences, best practices, and progress on open government initiatives. Key topics included anti-corruption, digital technologies, civic space, and parliamentary engagement. See photos.
