Maine Can Lead the Way on Housing Policy

Thank you to everyone that attended, sponsored, exhibited, and spoke at the MAHC Housing Policy Conference.

A changing Federal policy landscape may create opportunities for tax policy during the 2025 "tax super bowl", as well as regulatory change that supports housing, according to keynote speaker Jennifer Schwartz of the National Council of State Housing Agencies. Meanwhile, state policy makers on a panel shared that they will continue to focus on expanding access to housing through ongoing funding, streamlining development, and more. A sold out 320 person crowd also heard from a panel on land use and permitting models; and a panel of business leaders that have taken steps to address the housing crisis. MAHC also recognized award winners for their leadership on housing - Senator Teresa Pierce, Chris LaRoche of Westbrook Housing, and Kennebunk Savings Bank. Find speaker presentations and highlights of the award winners here.
