UCPath is preparing to update life insurance and disability benefit configurations for 2025, with variations for biweekly and monthly employees. To streamline the process, UCPath proposes adjusting the monthly payroll confirm cycle for Jan. 2, 2025 paychecks. This change would position the monthly cycle ahead of the biweekly one, preventing the need to implement, reverse, and re-implement the 2025 benefit configurations for monthly payroll.
Please be aware of the updated payroll schedule for Jan. 2, 2025. Adjust your transactions to align with the revised dates to ensure a smooth transition to the 2025 benefit configurations.
*Refer to the BRS calendar for Berkeley-specific due dates.

Use the following steps to enter OCA (Out of Classification) assignments for represented employees in UCPath. This guidance is considered temporary while new Action/Reason codes are being created by UCPath Center. The new Action/Reason codes will be designed to capture scenarios where Out-of-classification pay is being added or removed. Once these codes are available, we will notify UCPath transactors.
To learn more about the temporary process refer to the Job Aid: Temporary Guidance for Entering Out of Classification Assignments (OCA) in UCPath.

Policy Overview:
Beginning January 1, 2025, UC is expanding access to paid sick leave enhancing security and peace of mind for UC’s valued employees. As part of this policy UC will:
-
Expand eligibility for paid sick leave, including ensuring that part-time employees have access to paid sick leave
-
Expand the reasons for which employees may use paid sick leave
-
Provide paid sick leave that is “protected” so that the employee can be entitled to take the leave for a qualifying reason
-
Extend the period during which paid sick leave may be reinstated if an employee is reemployed after a separation from employment
UC plans to expand paid leave options for sick leave purposes for represented staff employees and academic appointees, subject to applicable collective bargaining requirements.
For more information read through Eugene’s CalMessage or visit UCNet’s Expanded Paid Sick Leave page.
Have questions? Employee Labor Relations (ELR) and Academic Personnel Office (APO) are planning to host information sessions in the upcoming months. Add your questions to our Expanded Sick Leave Google Form.

WFA Inquiry users may have noticed a new tile called Manage HR Transactions. Within that is a sub-tile called: Organizational Relationship.

In the future, more functionality may become available, but for now this is an inquiry only view,
This new tile offers a summary view, similar to Person Organizational Summary page, but is still under development. We recommend continuing to use Person Organizational Summary page for summary information, as this page is currently missing some fields that are on the Person Org. Summary page (e.g. Expected End Date, Prob Date and the counts at the top towards Benefits Eligibility/Limited hours).

A new Cognos report, R-423 Terminations & Retirements, is available for users with access to the Workforce Administration Reports folder in Cognos (Team Content > UCPath Reporting > Workforce Administration Reports).
This report provides data on terminations and retirements based on the date criteria entered on the run control prompt. Users have two options:
-
Termination Date: Pulls all terminations and retirements through the last date of employment in that job.
-
Job Effective Date: Pulls all terminations and retirements through the date the termination becomes effective (i.e., the last date of employment plus one day).
If you have any questions about this report or need access to Cognos, please contact the UCPath Operations Team at ucbucpath@berkeley.edu.

UCPath Center has created a new Cognos report R-419 to help identify any new “hires” in the system. From a system perspective, a “hire” is any time a new record is added. Any WFA users with access to the WFA Cognos report folder can run this report. Reports such as this one are integral in the auditing process.
- This report will look for any new job record that’s added, regardless of whether it’s a Person-level Hire of a new employee or a new job record for a concurrent job. It also spans different actions that might need to create a new record - such as Transfer-Inter BU or some Rehires (e.g. former emp. from another UC)
- The report pulls all new records created, regardless of where/how they were entered - so it is easier than having to look in different modules to check for a status.
- There are several helpful filters you can choose before running the report (Entry date, Effective date, EMPs only, Transactor/Initiator, etc.)
|
|
The run control on the Earnings by Pay Period (R-269) report has been updated to allow multiple Empl IDs to be entered instead of selected. To run the report for multiple IDs, simply enter one Empl ID per line in the Employee ID selection field.
