We did big things in 2024.

We went to the places where animals are suffering. We documented abuses and exposed secretive industries. The animals trapped within our systems are individuals who deserve to be seen—and with your support, they were. Here’s just some of what we achieved together in 2024:

✅   22 assignments across the globe
✅   350+ media outlets worldwide published our work
✅   1 brand evolution that strengthened our identity
✅   100,000+ downloads on our stock site
✅   15 independent editorials
✅    2 impactful fellowships

BUBA'S DARING RESCUE

Investigator and animal advocate Bogna Wiltowska (right) and Sylwia Prokopiak interact with Buba, who was rescued from a fur farm the previous night. Jo-Anne McArthur / Anima International / We Animals
On a cold, star-filled night in Poland, our photojournalist and investigators from the animal rights organization Anima International quietly entered a fur farm that warehoused row after row of foxes and raccoon dogs in dirty wire cages.

Their mission? To document the appalling conditions, and to save one precious girl, a white raccoon dog whom they later name Buba.

Buba’s beautiful white fur would not be used as trim on a jacket or hat – it would stay on her, where it belonged. She was going to safety.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I'D LOVE A GIFT...FOR WE ANIMALS

Bruce and Jo-Anne McArthur share a cuddle as they get acquainted at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. Bridget Laudien / We Animals
Incredible news! Thanks to the generosity of so many wonderful supporters, we've smashed my $10,000 birthday fundraiser goal. In fact, we've more than doubled it! I’m beyond grateful to everyone who made this possible.

With three days to go until my birthday, can we stretch it even more? Looking ahead to 2025, there’s so much to be excited about. As global leaders in animal photojournalism, the work We Animals does in the coming year will be used for decades to come.

There are lots of ways to support my 48th birthday fundraiser.
  • You can make it fun by donating a multiple of five in honour of We Animals' fifth anniversary.
  • For my 48th, you can donate $4.80, $48.00, $480.00, or even $4,800.00 (!!!!).
  • When you donate $100 or more we will send you a beautiful 8" X 10" matte print signed by me.
Thank you for helping me help animals, and making my birthday wishes come true. -Jo
