The Winter Read-a-thon runs from Saturday, December 21 to Tuesday, January 7, with a goal of 40,000 reading minutes and as many readers as possible! This is a chance to spark a love of reading and build excitement for books during the chilly winter season. Here’s how you can support your child in making the most of this adventure:
Donate your Gently Used Books to the Book Handout - Friday, December 20 Drop off your gently used children’s books in the "Book Donations" box at the “Take a Book” library near the front entrance by Thursday, Dec. 19. Students can pick out books to take home on Friday, Dec. 20.
Register Your Child
Register your child at The columbine Winter Read-a-thon to start tracking their reading minutes from day one. It’s quick and ensures every minute counts toward our school-wide goal!
How to Support Your Reader Read the Book from Their Teacher: Encourage your child to read the book sent home — it supports classroom learning and adds minutes! Complete the Bingo Card: Grab The Winter Read-a-thon bingo card from last week’s Thursday folder (which can also be found HERE). Aim to complete as many activities as possible! Set a Daily Routine: Encourage 20-30 minutes of reading daily. Bedtime stories count too! Track Minutes: Log reading time daily online or using the paper tracker HERE. Small wins add up to big minutes! Be a Role Model: Read alongside your child — it shows them reading matters! Explore New Books: Visit the library, check out e-books, or swap books with friends to keep reading fresh. Cheer Them On: Celebrate their progress and remind them every minute helps us reach our 40,000-minute goal!

Patrocinadores y Recaudación de Fondos El Winter Read-a-thon no solo se trata de leer, también es una forma de recaudar fondos para nuestra escuela. Este año, los fondos se utilizarán para apoyar nuevos recursos y libros para la biblioteca escolar. Si puedes, considera hacer una donación o pedir a amigos y familiares que patrocinen a tu lector. La recaudación de fondos es opcional, pero cada contribución ayuda a ampliar la colección de la biblioteca para que todos los estudiantes la disfruten. | | | | ❄️ Announcing… Clyde's Frosty Fiesta 2025 ❄️🪅 ¡Anunciando... la Fiesta Invernal de Clyde 2025! 🪅
Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 9, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Carla Madison Recreation Center's event space for Clyde's Frosty Fiesta 2025! This annual community celebration, first started last year by the amazing 2024 PTA Board, is the perfect way to come together and ring in the new year with friends, family, and fun.
This FREE event is open to all Columbine Elementary staff, parents, and caregivers. We’re inviting the community to join us potluck style, and crockpots are encouraged to help keep dishes warm. We’ll also be serving beer and wine—each adult (21 and over) will receive two drink tickets to enjoy alcoholic beverages, with additional drinks available for donation. Childcare will be available at no charge throughout the entire event, so parents and caregivers can relax, mingle, and enjoy the evening.
Want to help us make this event unforgettable? Join us for a virtual planning session on January 2 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. We’ll gladly welcome the help and support of anyone who would like to join!

Esta celebración comunitaria anual, iniciada el año pasado por la increíble Junta de la PTA de 2024, es la oportunidad perfecta para reunirnos y dar la bienvenida al nuevo año con amigos, familiares y mucha diversión.
Este evento GRATUITO está abierto a todo el personal, padres y cuidadores de la Primaria Columbine. Invitamos a la comunidad a participar en un estilo potluck (comida compartida), y se anima a traer ollas de cocción lenta (crockpots) para mantener los platos calientes. También serviremos cerveza y vino—cada adulto (mayor de 21 años) recibirá dos boletos para bebidas alcohólicas, con la opción de obtener bebidas adicionales mediante donación.
