| | | | Message from the PresidentThis year was truly our best year ever! I cannot believe all the new activities and programs we created this year. I couldn’t be any prouder with the volunteers who stepped up this year and made this chapter what it is today: a global, award-winning professional community.
Thank you everyone who worked hard this year on putting together all of the events and programs. Below are just some of the highlights, in no particular order: Conducting our first Capture the Flag event Created an amazing podcast series - Unencrypted Chatter! Developed an internship program - NJ Cyber Guardians! Created a monthly CMMC Roundtable event Revamped our Mentorship program Did a ton of fun activities such as, Topgolf, Go-karts, picnics, and a baseball game Went to over a dozen senior centers to educate them on scams Educated junior members about different professions with our Cyber Pathways event Held two conferences (SECON NJ and SECON International) Provided CISSP and CC bootcamps and study groups Held several educational events (up to 60 CPE credits!)

| | | | | | SECON International - 3rd Annual International ISC2 Chapter Conference 2024 On Wednesday, December 4, the SECON International Virtual Conference brought ISC2 Chapter members and global security professionals together for a day of exceptional learning and collaboration. Featuring 30 speakers from six continents, the event showcased keynote addresses by Tara Wisniewski, J. Carlos Vega, Rachel Kim Bierner, and Dr. Erdal Ozkaya. With over 400 participants from more than 50 ISC2 Chapters worldwide, the conference was a resounding success, providing attendees with 5 CPE credits.

| | | December 2024 Holiday Dinner A good time was had by all at our ISC2 New Jersey Chapter Holiday Party! The Chapter celebrated the festive season with its annual Holiday Dinner on Tuesday, December 10, at The Armory in Perth Amboy, NJ. Members enjoyed an evening of camaraderie, great food, and lively conversation, wrapping up the year in high spirits.
Anicee Monfleury and Alexandra Velez, SSCP received our Volunteer of the Year Award! Marie Ivanov, MBA, CISA, CRISC, CDPSE, our event coordinator, and her team did an amazing job making the hall look so festive!

| | | December 2024 Monthly Meeting Recap The year’s final Monthly Meeting, held virtually on Thursday, December 19, featured a CISO AMA (Ask Me Anything) Panel with distinguished experts Ulf Mattsson, Sharon Kelly, Christopher Callahan, and Alon Rosenthal, moderated by Shruti Kalsi. The meeting also included a compelling presentation by Laila Fetjah on "Optimizing Security and PCI DSS Compliance in Cloud Fintech Environments," leaving attendees with actionable insights and thought-provoking discussions to close out the year. Recording can be found on YouTube.

| | | CMMC RoundTableThe Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program provides the DoD the mechanism needed to verify that a defense contractor or subcontractor has implemented the security requirements at each CMMC Level and is maintaining that protection at the required level during the term of the contract. As the security protections outlined in the Special Publication (SP) 800-171 is meant to provide adequate security for sensitive unclassified DoD information, we at the local ISC2 New Jersey chapter, created the CMMC Roundtable, where we meet monthly to have meaningful and inclusive interactions, where participants has an opportunity to contribute their insights and engage in conversations on a variety of relevant CMMC topics. January 2025 Agenda focus: A brief overview of Title 32 and Title 48 of the Code of Federal Regulations and what they mean for the CMMC Ecosystem, it’s Prime Contractors and Sub Contractors. |

Our Discord Server is a dynamic hub for job seekers, offering firsthand job opportunities in various IT and Cyber positions from chapter members. It's also a resource for members seeking internships, aiming to enhance their skill sets, or wanting to share resumes for reviews and feedback (including interview skills assistance). In addition to our website and newsletter, we announce upcoming events through Discord Server notifications. You'll receive regular reminders, so you won’t miss out on our engaging events! Moreover, our mentorship program is hosted on Discord, facilitating interaction with mentors during your cohort.

| | | | | | | Going For Your Certified in Cybersecurity Certification? ISC2 New Jersey Chapter is proud to be actively involved in the ISC2 1MCC Partner Program! We provide a pathway for potential candidates from our thriving network and help support individuals through training, exam pass and to becoming a CC holder.
To help you on your journey to achieve the CC, register for it. After registering, we'll be able to see your progress and be able to provide guidance and encouragement if you need it. |
| | | NYU Program and ISC2 New Jersey ChapterThe ISC2 New Jersey Chapter and the New York University Tandon School of Engineering have formed a partnership to further educational and credentialing opportunities for students and the cybersecurity community.
In addition to participating in NYU Tandon events, lectures, career fairs, and other professional development activities, ISC2 will offer students a full membership for $10, giving them access to a network of local industry leaders. As part of the agreement, ISC2 members can sign up for The NYU Center for Cybersecurity (CCS) mailing list to stay current with research and events featuring leading faculty and industry partners at cyber.nyu.edu.
