BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota State Archives invites you to dive into your family history with two exciting opportunities to preserve your cherished memories and stories. These hands-on classes are perfect for anyone looking to safeguard their heritage for future generations.
“Preserving Your Family History Collection” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 6-7:30 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. This workshop focuses on preserving the tangible pieces of your family history—photos, documents, letters, and more. Learn expert techniques for organizing, storing, and protecting these treasures. Whether you’re new to genealogy or an experienced enthusiast, this session will provide invaluable tips to ensure your family artifacts stand the test of time. The State Archives, located inside the ND Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck, is responsible for acquiring, preserving, and referencing the documentary holdings of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The State Archives is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the second Saturday of each month, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The ND Heritage Center & State Museum is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, visit history.nd.gov/archives or call 701.328.2091.
