| | | This past Sunday, when we got home from church, our first order of business was to chalk the front door. The Epiphany house blessing is something we’ve done for years, but it felt extra special this year. After the past few weeks of packing, moving, unpacking, setting up our new place, cleaning the old place, and the busy-ness of Christmas complete with family visiting from Colorado, the prayers and chalking gave us a much-needed pause. After we finished, we just stood fora moment in silence on our new front porch, and gave thanks to God for all our blessings, and especially for the blessing of becoming part of St. Patrick’s. My hope for us all this Epiphany season is that the chalk marks
20 + C + M +B + 25
above our doors will remind us that we are called to make our homes beacons of light in our communities, and to strive to make our homes places of safety, comfort, and hospitality to all who enter.
Please email or text photos of your front doors with your Epiphany blessings to Mack.Saintpatricks@gmail.comso we can share them in the next edition of the Grapevine!

| | | This Sunday, the choir will sing a setting of a wonderful poem by Howard Thurman, “The Work of Christmas.”
When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nations, To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart.
Those of us who participated in Sacred Ground read Thurman’s profound little book "Jesus and the Disinherited,” one of the most compassionate responses to injustice it has ever been my privilege to read. Rev. Carol+ |

| | | The Flower Guild Ministry is seeking additional volunteers to help with the flower decorations of the church. There is no cost to the volunteer—reimbursement for expenses is easily available. We rotate duties so that typically no one is responsible for flowers more than one time per month and we adjust schedules to accommodate each person’s availability. During Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas we work together as a team to decorate the church. If you have any questions and possible interest –please contact me – Please know you don’t have to be an expert floral arranger!—Margaret M. (707)542-8146 |

Our first Nomadic Shelter of the new year was on January 4. We had 16 guests, including 3 women and the usual 2 staff early in the evening and 2 others overnight. They arrived just before 6 p.m. and left on Sunday at 6 a.m., leaving Stevenson Hall clean and tidy.
We had our wonderful head cooks, Fr. Mack and Jeremy who prepared lasagna, mixed vegetables, and garlic bread. Dakota and Brianna brought Caesar salad and Ron Keith made his delicious Ambrosia. Bernadette Gibb brought salami, cheese, and crackers. Rebecca Randolph brought cupcakes.
The set-up crew which included Adele Daw and Carol Luther got the tables set and decorated, set up the coffee table, and laid out all those scarves, hats, and gloves and guests took what they could use.
Our wait staff were Dakota and Brianna Borgfeldt, Rebecca Randolph, Josh Phillips, Ron Keith, Bernadette Gibb, Merle Holtzen, Beth Lewis, Emily Lewis, Martine Fioresi, Ingo Renken, Rich and Betsy Randolph. After dinner Bernadette and others wasshed dishes. Jeremy and Fr. Mack packed up leftovers for Redwood Gospel Mission and everyone was able to leave by 7:15. It all went very smoothly, and everyone enjoyed the meal.
Our nest Nomadic Shelter is February 1, Saturday, Sign-ups will begin next Sunday. Please contact me if you have any questions. Betsy Randolph (408)981-2024 or email rjurny@gmail.com |

“If I could introduce you to ten amazing people whose influence could transform your life by energizing your spiritual quest, they would be the nine visionaries featured in The Great Search… plus a tenth, John Philip Newell himself. What a treasure this book is. Enthusiastically recommended!” — Brian D. McLaren, author of Life After Doom |
