Politeness!

Hello, subscribers!

This week, we are tackling one of the trickier topics in pragmatics- that of politeness.

When someone hears the term politeness, they often think about the  formality of language and using terms like sir and ma'am.

However, when thinking about meaning making in cross-cultural and multicultural environments, the term is more related to using language that is appropriate to context.

As promised, here is the updated link for the module we shared last week related to language and power.

Now, on to the politeness show!
