January 2025

As we wrap up the first month of the new year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on ways to improve our habits—whether it’s saving money, managing time more efficiently, getting involved in your community, or making safety a priority. At the Mobility Authority, we can help you accomplish all of those goals.

New Year, New Connections

As the new year begins, we welcome those who may be discovering our agency for the first time. Let’s take this opportunity to reintroduce ourselves and share what we’re all about. The Mobility Authority is an independent government agency established in 2002 to improve the transportation systems in Williamson and Travis counties. We are committed to developing and maintaining high-quality roadways, toll operations, and transportation solutions to ease congestion, support multimodal travel, and keep Central Texas moving forward as our region grows.

Our roadways—183A Toll, 290 Toll, MoPac Express Lane, 71 Toll Lane, 45SW Toll, and 183 Toll—are designed to provide faster, safer, and more reliable travel. By aligning projects with regional plans, transportation data, and public input, we aim to reconnect communities, businesses, and families.

Achieve Your Goals with Smarter Mobility

At the Mobility Authority, we’re committed to developing and maintaining mobility solutions that keep you moving. That’s why our roads are modern, all-electronic toll roads, meaning you don’t need to stop or slow down to pay your tolls. Toll financing helps us build projects faster so you can continue to avoid delays and stay ahead of congestion. Every toll you pay contributes to routine road maintenance and reinvestment into the region, ensuring our infrastructure meets the needs of growing counties. Here’s how the Mobility Authority can help you achieve your goals and build new habits this year:

Electronic Tags Help You Save Money

  • The Mobility Authority accepts electronic tags on our toll roads. Simply place the funded tag on your windshield and save 33% on tolls compared to Pay By Mail invoices.

  • We accept all in-state and several out-of-state tags, ensuring seamless travel across Central Texas and beyond.

Our Tolling Operations Help You Save Time

  • Time is one of our most valuable resources. Using toll roads can help you bypass congestion, getting you where you need to go more reliably.

  • With an electronic tag, automated payments eliminate the hassle of mailed bills, keeping you organized and stress and clutter free.

Let us help you stay on the road to success this year!

There's Still Time to Get Involved This New Year

Public input plays a crucial role in shaping Mobility Authority projects. We actively share information about ongoing environmental studies to gather your feedback. The MoPac South Environmental Study Open House is currently open and will remain accessible through January 28, 2025. We invite you to review the exhibits and share your thoughts to help guide the future of this project.

Staying safe on the road is always in season, but winter months come with extra challenges. Make safety your top priority this year with these tips:
  • Wear your seatbelt correctly: Always remove bulky winter jackets before buckling up to make sure your seatbelt is secure, and functions as intended.

  • Check tire pressure and tread depth: Cold weather can lower tire pressure, so make it a habit to check your tires regularly.

  • Maintain your vehicle: Change your oil, schedule routine maintenance, ensure the fluids in your vehicle are rated for the applicable temperature, and give your car some extra TLC this season.

  • Pack an emergency kit: Include items like blankets, flashlights, water, snacks, and a first aid kit in case of emergencies.

  • Drive cautiously: Leave extra space between vehicles and adjust your speed based on road conditions.

  • Plan ahead: Use DriveTexas.org to check road conditions before you head out.

Let's Achieve Our Goals Together

This year is full of opportunities to build better habits, achieve your goals, and stay safe on the road. Whether it’s saving time, cutting costs, or traveling safely, we’re here to help make it happen.
