WEEKLY NOTESJanuary 30, 2025 |
|
Greetings Saint Paul's Friends and Family, |
|
As we journey through this season together, we are reminded of the power of community. It’s in our shared prayers, our acts of service, and our love for one another that God’s presence shines most brightly. We are so thankful for the ways each of you contributes to the life of this church, from offering your time to sharing your heart in worship and service.
This week, let’s pause and reflect on the countless blessings that surround us, even in the midst of life’s challenges. May we continue to grow in love and faith, and may we seek opportunities to be a blessing to those around us. As we walk together in faith, we know that God is with us every step of the way, guiding and empowering us to make a difference in the world.
Thank you for being a part of this community. We are grateful for each of you and look forward to what God will do in and through us in the days, months, and year ahead.
With gratitude and love, |
|
Your Pastors, Latricia and MaryAnn |

IRC Update and Friends of our Refugees MeetingNEW DATE- Wednesday, February 5th- 7:00pm- Room 310 In December of 2022, Saint Paul’s UMC committed to help a refugee family from Guatemala being resettled in Tallahassee through the agency of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). When our volunteers received training and background checks we became a “Home Team”, a term defined by the IRC- “To walk with a refugee family for six months, providing support, household needs, help with doctor appointments in order for them to become self-sufficient.” THE SAINT PAUL’S HOME TEAM ACCOMPLISHED THIS GOAL AND THEREFORE HAS COME TO AN END. The mother and father are both employed and their children are in school and child care and they are self-sufficient. Since the fall of 2023, more of their extended family have also arrived as refugees. Even though we as a church did not become a “Home Team” for any of these relatives some of our members have continued to offer assistance on their own. Legal and moral considerations need to be understood due to the end of our “Home Team,” a former mission of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church. Therefore, Friends of our refugees are meeting 7:00 pm this Wednesday, Feb 5th, Room 310 and all who help refugees are welcome. |

Please drop by to make a card for a loved one or some of our homebound members. We also have dates for some of our summer offerings for children. Extreme Explorers will be back this year from June 2nd until June 6th. All rising 3rd-5th graders are welcome to join us on half day field trips around Tallahassee. It’s always been a blast. There will be more information to come about it. At the end of June we will be holding VBS from June 23rd to June 27th, with a decorating and prep sessions the weekend before. Sign ups for attending or volunteering for VBS will be available in March. We are still offering our weekly Sunday school and Kids@Art times while getting our events and activities ready.
