I took a break from painting a few days ago to make some homemade valentine cards, and I reminisced about being in elementary school and making a box for all the store bought valentines I’d collect. Then I remembered the heart shaped sugar cookies my mom made one year to surprise us when we got home from school. I thought about how much fun my students had when I opened the art centers to all things hearts—prints, collages, paintings, clay sculptures. Talk about a happy atmosphere! So I send this email to spread some lightheartedness. Forget the ads and the social expectations about the day and enjoy that “kid part.” Put this in your valentine box today: You Are Loved. Thank you for sharing your light with me.
