CARL's Dog Of The Month "FRECKLES"
     
Freckles loves to go on walks/runs with his favorite people and he especially likes car rides in a doggy car seat so he can see out of the window.  He enjoys hanging out in a yard and investigating all the smells and playing with toys. He has learned the commands, sit, paw and rollover. He is a very smart little guy and it’s been suggested he would do well in an agility class, where he could use his brain to learn new skills and burn off some energy!   He’s also the master of spinnies!
   
   
  

Hi, I'm Freckles, a Chihuahua/Beagle/Poodle/Pekingese/Min Pinscher and Super Mutt X (I had a DNA test), rescued from a shelter in LA after I was found wandering the streets.

I’ve been at the kennel quite a while now, maybe it’s because I don’t always warm up to new people right away. The volunteers at CARL are helping me to become more friendly and have been teaching me not to be possessive of my belongings. I need an experienced owner who is willing to teach me manners and boundaries because it’s been so long since I’ve lived in a home, I don’t always know how to share. I would do well with some training to overcome this habit so my true personality can blossom.

I would be happiest as an only pet, but I have been known to get along with other small dogs. I know there is my special someone out there who just hasn’t found me yet. I am waiting for you!

We started 2025 out with 3 dogs making their Skunkmaster's debuts. We had Smiley, Baby C and Lu Dog. Smiley's dream life would include chasing birds and squirrels. Ha  Jill enjoyed giving Baby C a mohawk with her crazy hair and Lu Dog really came out of her shell. She was nervous when we picked her up but once she knew she wasn't going to be crated she relaxed and enjoyed the day. Shelbie trimmed all of their nails but when I took my shoes off that's when she drew the line. Marion stopped by with little Lizzy. She adores Marion and is so cute. Thank you Shelbie for transporting Smiley and helping Jill & I. We will be back Sunday Feb. 2.  Happy 2025!

Recycling Fundraiser
 

Please Remember To Recycle For The CARL Dogs! 


                                                                                           

We need your help. Please remember to recycle for the CARL dogs. The money we raise helps the dogs in so many ways. Many things have been funded through our recycling program. We have been able to purchase dog house heaters for the winter and misters for the summer months. We have been able to buy food for special needs dogs, provide medical, help sponsor dogs and much needed maintenance to the kennels to keep our dogs safe and happy. But we need your help as we can do so much more if you donate your recyclables.

Please separate your plastic bottles and aluminum cans and bring to the kennel. If you are unable to bring to the kennel, we can make arrangements to pick them up. You can also bring your recyclables to the CARL Boutique Thrift Store. What is good for the environment is also good for the dogs:)

The Adoptions Team volunteers help at the Adoption Center, Mobile Events, Private Companies events, Pet Care Center & Foster Care. We have adoption events all over Ventura County from Port Hueneme to Newbury Park. They are held on Saturdays &  Sundays at different locations. Volunteer orientations are now being conducted online. After completely filing out the CARL volunteer application VOLUNTEER APPLICATION. You will be contacted by email to attend an online orientation, presented by a CARL volunteer via Zoom.
