Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy consultations 

Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies are being developed and published by all 32 of Scotland's Local Authorities. 

 Glasgow City Council was the first to publish their draft strategy for consultation, which is now closed, but you can catch up on the recording of a webinar on the topic created by LocoHome Retrofit, a Scottish cooperative for retrofit here.  

In the past couple of weeks Fife Council and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) have both published their respective LHEES drafts for public consultation.   You can access the documents, provide feedback and register for public engagement events at the links below.

Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) 


The 2023 funding call for the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) opened on the 20 September – with £5 million available to support research and innovation projects involving innovative companies and collaborating universities / research organisations from across Scotland.

The CETP is an international collaboration involving 30 countries and over 50 funding agencies, supported through the Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme. Successful applications will develop new or improved technologies, products and services that support the Clean Energy Transition.

Energy Efficiency Market Analysis and Economic Opportunity Assessment

In the last few days Scottish Enterprise has published a report on Energy Efficiency Market Analysis and Economic Opportunity Assessment.  

This piece of research carrier out by Built Environment - Smarter Transformation covers everything from funding pathways for retrofit to supply chain mapping and skills and workforce impacts.  You can access the report, along with many other market assessments and research reports through the Scottish Enterprise Evaluations Online Portal here.

This report was one of the main topics of the most recent HeatSource webinar alongside the current Energy Performance Certificate reform consultation from Scottish Government.

Highland Green Skills Challenge Fund

In Highland, as part of its Shared Prosperity Fund Investment Plan, the Council wishes to support new green skills training that fill training gaps and adds value to existing skills training. It also has funds available to invest in new green training facilities that are not otherwise provided in Highland.

Scottish Research Alliance for Energy, Homes and Livelihoods (SRAEHL) | 10 Oct

The Scottish Research Alliance for Energy, Homes and Livelihoods (SRAEHL) is a new strategic initiative set up by the Scottish Funding Council to accelerate impactful research activity in Scotland. The launch is free to attend and will take place in person on Tuesday 10th October 10am-5pm at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PQ. Scotland Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition | 25 Oct

Kensa’s ‘Heat the Streets’ Wins International Heat Pump Award


The Heat Pump Awards recognises the most outstanding heat pump projects and attracts entrants from across Europe. The Lighthouse Heat Pump category highlights unique heat pump projects pioneering problem-solving with high levels of creativity.

Winning this award shines a light on how large-scale, street-by-street rollout of Ground Source Heat Pumps can be achieved using an innovative Networked Heat Pump solution. ‘Heat the Streets’ decarbonised residential heating in new and existing homes across Cornwall by connecting Kensa’s highly efficient ground source heat pumps to Shared Ground Borehole Arrays drilled into the roads – a UK first. Read more here.
