Registration Now Open for the IATLC 2023 Fall Conference
The Idaho Association of Teachers of Language and Culture (IATLC) has opened registration for its 2023 Fall Conference, hosted in partnership with the Department of World Languages. The event will be held on October 20 - 21 at the Boise State University Student Union, Hatch Ballroom. Applications for session proposals are also open through October 13. Educators with ideas to share are strongly encouraged to apply to host a session. Vendors and sponsors are also encouraged to submit their applications for this year's conference.

RSA Grant Awards Nearly $10 Million to Fund Interagency Partnerships, CIE Initiatives
The State Department of Education has been awarded nearly $10 million to fund the five-year "Idaho Pathways to Partnerships Innovative Model Demonstration Project." This initiative will build and strengthen state, regional and local level interagency teams to improve postsecondary outcomes and competitive integrated employment (CIE) for students with disabilities.
To develop regional and local-level collaborative interagency teams, a team of Regional Transition Coordinators (RTC) will provide professional development to educators, employers, vocational rehabilitation counselors, families and other support personnel. Professional development will be created and delivered in partnership with the University of Idaho’s Center on Disability and Human Development (CDHD).

The Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) invites administrators of both secondary and post-secondary career and technical education programs and institutions to register for the 2023 Region II Leadership Conference, to be held October 11 -14. You'll have the opportunity to hear presentations and share the latest insight on:

Rural STEM Educators Encouraged to Apply for the 2024 Cohort of BSU's STEM Teaching Fellowship
Boise State University is recruiting applicants from Regions 3 and 4 to make up a community-based cohort of Master's in Teaching Candidates, with a focus on proving the highest quality STEM instruction to Idaho's rural schools. The program is sponsored by National Science Foundation's Robert Noyce Teaching Scholarship Program. This year's STEM Teaching Fellowship cohort will begin work in May of 2024.
The program features:
Initial teacher certificate and Master in Teaching degree
Paid tuition and fees, as well as a stipend for living expenses
$10,000 per year salary supplement for the first 4 years of teaching
Priority hiring consideration in partner rural-serving schools
Professional Development Opportunity: Evidence-Based Math Teaching Strategies in a Simulated Classroom Study
The Simulated Instruction in Mathematics Professional Development (SIM PD) Study, is an innovative professional learning opportunity that has demonstrated positive impacts on the quality of math instruction for grades 4 and 5 math teachers. Participation in SIM PD provides opportunities for instructors of math to explore a variety of ideas and strategies meant to sharpen their classroom teaching skills to best serve this population. Teachers will:
- Learn questioning and discussion facilitation strategies that promote student engagement and understanding of math concepts
- Collaboratively practice the strategies with fellow teachers using a simulated classroom where avatar students respond to teachers in real time
- Receive support from a school or district coach trained by the American Institute for Research (AIR) to lead the SIM PD activities.

Idaho LAUNCH Program Provides High School Seniors 80% Tuition Coverage for College, up to $8,000
Do you know a high school senior who will graduate in 2024? Governor Brad Little's new LAUNCH grants will provide graduating high school seniors a one-time opportunity to have 80% of their tuition and fees paid for after high school, up to $8,000. Students must enroll in apprenticeships, job training, community college and university programs that lead to in-demand careers. There are hundreds of programs and careers to choose from. The application window opens October 3, and Idahoans can sign up now at https://nextsteps.idaho.gov/launch to get notified when students are able to apply. High school seniors or parents of high school seniors should not delay in applying because there is only enough funding to offer awards to about half of Idaho’s seniors.
