Citizens’ Academy Class Graduates, FoCo Kicks Off Next Session of Student Government Academy

Following a summer-long program with behind-the-scenes looks at the County departments in action, Citizens’ Academy class participants graduated on Sept. 20.

New Director of Fleet Services Joins County

Marcus Hawk has been named Director of Fleet Services, replacing former Director Avery Gravitt who retired in September after 17 years in the position.  

Hawk brings 20 years of experience in motor maintenance, operations and leadership to Fleet Services, a department that is responsible for repairing and servicing all of Forsyth County’s vehicles and equipment so members of other County departments can serve the public to the best of their abilities.

Fire Dept., Sheriff’s Office Observe 9/11 with Joint Swearing in Ceremony

To commemorate the events of Sept. 11, 2001, the Forsyth County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office hosted a joint swearing in ceremony and Honor Guard Presentation of the Colors. 

The event was held in front of the Forsyth County Courthouse and featured remarks by Board of Commissioners Chairman Alfred John, Fire Chief Barry Head and Sheriff Ron Freeman.

Inaugural 5K on Veterans Day Will Support Local Public Safety Charity

Ready, set, run for a good cause! 

The Forsyth County Fire Department is hosting its first-ever Hometown Heroes 5K to support Benevolent Association Dedicated to Giving to Employees (BADGE) of the Forsyth County Service Organizations, a local nonprofit aimed at fostering aid and supporting the overall wellbeing of County first responders.  

Interested racers will get to run alongside members of the Fire Department in their full gear – how cool!
