A Breath of Scandal
I have loved writing this story; these characters have lived with me for so many years; the story line ever evolving till even I realized I had to just let them fly and put “The End” on the story. I hope that it speaks to many. I am never happy with wrapping up lose ends since life is just not that way so put your seat belt on and get ready.
This story tugs at your heart with the beauty that love can bring, laughter of children and the dreams of the ever after. We never know what lurks behind the corner and we are never prepared from who and when the horrors can tear us apart.
Adele, Countess of Caravagio, is wild and has never accepted the word “No” from anyone. She has always taken what she has wanted in her fashion and in her way. One day by chance she turns her head and in a very old cliché fashion she sees a face across the expanse of a Polo field, and she goes to meet it. The breath inside her leaves her body and she finds herself drowning in eyes that she cannot pull away from. These are the circumstances in which she meets Gillian. And this is how their saga begins going against a tide of intrigue, abusive situations, manipulations and also the magic of love and the pink hews of the Cherry Blossoms next to a river. Adele is forever changed, torn down and is trying to claw her way back to the life that she desperately needs to live again.
When Gillian meets Adele, she finds herself content and in a very safe place in her life. She is in a relationship with a woman, Candice, who she loves and has built a life with. When she meets Adele the last thing she wanted was to be sucked into the maelstrom that comes with her. Adele is passionate and has the air of danger and the wild. Gillian does not want to follow the ever-growing feelings she has for her. She denies to herself that pull that Adele made her feel from the very first moment they met. But Adele was something that she could not fight against. Gillian leaps into a world of wealth and power. Gillian is dragged into a world of press smearing their photos and Julia’s past all over the pages found in every stand of magazine and rag newspapers. But Adele is her love and Adele builds a world for her in which she is loved until horror knocks on the door and it comes in with its poisons and its guise of demise.
Together these two characters live through the unlivable and are made to be a part of the horrors and the worst of life and each other. The end is …. Well, you will have to read it and I hope that you find in it the love that at times survives in the ashes.
