indigenous people's day / thanks for coming! / no school friday / book swap /  question of the week / experiential learning / snapshots / child find notice / events
In Honor of Indigenous People's Day, The Gardner School of Arts & Sciences recognizes that we are located on the traditional lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, the Confederate Tribes of the Siletz Indians and the lands of Cowlitz people. We honor their history by sharing their stories in our classrooms and by being responsible stewards of the land. You can click here to learn more about native lands, territories, treaties, and more. As a school community, we are still learning - new learning and unlearning about indigenous peoples. Our goal is to take an expansive approach to history, and include a wider range of voices and experiences.

We know sharing stories is one of the most meaningful ways to learn about others' experiences. Are you interested in adding more native voices to your family's book shelves? Click here to view a list of books that are written by and/or include native voices and experiences.

First Friday Farmhouse Family Social

We had a great turnout in the Farmhouse for a family social last Friday! Save the date for November's First Friday morning on Friday, November 3rd. See you in the Farmhouse after drop off!
Don't Forget- No School this Friday, 10/13

Come early, check out the book selection, and stay and play on campus! Please note, staff will be running the event and are not available to supervise children.

Thanks to Vintage Books for donating more to our swap!

Experiential Learning
Taking advantage of the neighborhood!

Last week, our 5th and 6th graders started off with a great hike to WSU-V. Students endured the only rain of the week during the hike, which brought wonderful smells, sounds, and gave a real “FALL” experience. We had so much fun playing in the creek and exploring our senses in the much larger natural playground - just next door!

A busy and fun week at Gardner! Students are so focused and are really showing their best work!
Gardner School works closely with Battle Ground Public Schools to identify students who may qualify for special education services, such as occupational or speech therapy, tutoring, or other assistance. The process can be facilitated with the support our admin team and teachers. Reach out to Assistant Head, Courtney Tomlinson, with any questions.
Battle Ground Public Schools are committed to addressing the unique needs of students with disabilities, birth through age 21, who reside within the boundaries of the Battle Ground School District. This includes children with disabilities enrolled in private schools within the district boundaries as well as children who are homeless. Disabilities can be in any one of several categories that ultimately affect a child’s learning, such as the ability to think, to express oneself, to see or hear clearly, to get around, or understand instructions given.

If you have a child who you think might have a disability requiring special education instruction or significant accommodations at school, or if you know of such a child, please feel free to call the Battle Ground Public Schools Special Education Office at (360) 885-5318.
