Trivia Teamwork + Drafting Delegates=SUCCESS!
Look at the first place winners of our country draft trivia contest!
Last Saturday's country draft was a very fun and fast-paced event for all, including the Civitas staff. Having so many new students in attendance was a definite highlight! The two hours flew by with a review of how the Civitas Model UN program works, five rounds of trivia, and the drafts of countries in separate session groups. Congratulations to Group #10 for placing first in trivia, getting 32 out of 35 questions correct! Very impressive! Group #9 was the runner-up team with 31 out of 35 correct. The results of the draft are on the Civitas webpage. Representatives from 26 different school groups helped draft for their teams and at least five more schools plan on choosing countries from those still available. The next important step, once students know the countries they'll be representing at  their Model UN session, is for every single person to sign up for the Model United Nations. In addition to researching your countries between now and your session, begin considering resolution topics. Since each session has 10 or more schools, we can only accept two resolutions per school. We encourage students/countries to collaborate with resolution writing this year. Final resolutions are due NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT on the Tuesday before your session so we have plenty of time to create the master copy and send it to FedEx for printing.
All three Model UN sessions for this fall are completely full and we have a waitlist with six schools currently wanting more delegates if any space opens up. Please let us know if the number Civitas has for your group drops at all so we can accommodate some on the waitlist.

Vote16MO is having a National Call on October 16, 2023 for a national conversation surrounding our efforts to lower the voting age in nonpartisan local and school board elections to 16 here in Missouri.
We invite individuals and organizations to join us to learn more about the reasons why we're leading this fight and how they can be supportive in our efforts to protect and expand democracy.
