Suicide Prevention in the Disability Sector
This was a sold-out event that was held on 27 September in Midland. This was a 2-hour seminar that aimed to increase the local support worker’s understanding of suicide prevention skills and resources when supporting someone living with a disability. We had SPC’s own Amy speak about trends and learnings for psychosocial disabilities in the NDIS space, CarersWA discussed Carer Gateway, services, eligibility and referral pathways, a Q&A with a Lived-Experience Advocate, and ended it off with a 1hr training on ‘Managing Suicide Risk & Self Care’.
Stall and speech at Derbarl Yerrigan’s World Suicide Prevention Day Fair
On September 11th at their East Perth location. Consumers of the service and their community were able to discuss with us about important Suicide Prevention supports for their community.
Aboriginal Youth Bush Hike (Armadale)
In partnership with Marmun Mia Mia, Derbarl Yerrigan and headspace Armadale we went for a walk and yarn into the bushlands in the local Armadale area. The young teens had the opportunity to hear Aboriginal storytelling from that bush path, then finish it off with a sausage sizzle and a yarning circle with everyone.
