Dear Adaire Community,

We are ending our first month of school and it has been wonderful to see students back in Adaire! We have a few upcoming events that I wanted to be sure to highlight for you: There will be many activities starting in October and we are here to guide you through it all.
  • We will have a Middle School Open House on Thursday, Sept. 28th at 5:30pm. It is a great way for soon-to-be middle school families to learn about our program, but everyone is welcome to attend.
  • Students in grades 3rd-8th will be taking the district-wide Student Wellbeing Survey from Oct. 9th through 31st.  We review results from these surveys as a school team and look for trends of areas to support.
  • We are also thinking about ways to support our teachers. Every month teachers are getting support from Inner Strength on mindfulness and self-care.  Wellness is a top priority for students and staff.
  • Implementation for our new math curriculum is underway and I'm grateful to have Mrs. McGinniss here to support all our teachers. She is coaching our new teachers too.
Finally, I want to thank all community members for the support: smiles, hugs, kind email messages, and for coming to Back to School Night.  I appreciate it and I look forward to continuing to build on the greatness of our Adaire teachers!

Sincerely,
Anna Jenkins, Principal

We look forward to sharing more updates about where your fundraising dollars go in future e-News editions. In the meantime, you are always welcome to donate here

Robert Williams, Building Engineer
Mr. Williams is Adaire's Building Engineer and has been here since January of 2022.  He is responsible for handling any building issues such as those related to heating, plumbing, electrical, or any other minor repairs around the building. He also manages the custodial staff. Ms. Whitehead (or “Ms. Jackie”) has also been on Adaire’s custodial team for the last 3 years. She is married and has 3 sons and 1 grandson. In her free time, she enjoys walking, visiting museums, and good food. Meetings will be in the evening, likely 7pm.  The SAC Middle School Committee gives special attention to the oldest students at Adaire. Our mission is 1) to help create a distinct middle school experience that provides students with all the skills and experiences they need to be successful at whatever high school they choose and 2) to educate Adaire’s elementary families about the benefits of an Adaire middle school experience. Anyone with an interest is welcome - you don’t need to have a middle school student. Contact Ellyn Dvorin at AdaireSAC.6th8th@gmail.com to get involved.

It will focus on playground game facilitation and group management strategies. This training is focused on recess volunteers, but will be valuable to any Adaire caregivers that regularly need to wrangle or engage groups of kids (classroom volunteers, club leaders, field trip volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, etc.). It is sure to be a fun time. Please RSVP to Coach Bridget at bridget.poisel@playworks.org so she knows how many to expect.

Download the PBIS Family App

A reminder that a letter should have been sent in your student’s take-home folder explaining PBIS in more detail and how to download the PBIS app. Make sure you download the PBIS FAMILY App in order to scan the QR code on the letter. The App can be used to communicate with teachers, just as Remind does. The goal will be to slowly phase out Remind and use the PBIS app exclusively. For more information about PBIS and the app, please click here. You can also contact Mr. F at jfrangipani@philasd.org with any questions.
