Dear Waterfront Parks Enthusiast,
Although it feels like summer never quite leaves us here in St. Pete, autumn is certainly in full swing and as Thanksgiving approaches, we reflect on all the reasons for which we are grateful. While Waterfront Parks Foundation members truly appreciate that our scenic waterfront parks were largely untouched, we're deeply aware that some of our local neighborhoods were impacted by Hurricane Idalia. To those in our community who faced the trials of the flooding, please know that you're in our hearts and minds. It's during these times that we truly understand the importance of coming together as a community.
On that note, Waterfront Parks Foundation is planning a wonderful Fundraiser/Community Get-together: On Saturday afternoon, November 18th, we invite you to join us for PICNIC LAND at beautiful Flora Wylie Park, as we aim to set the Guinness Book of World Records for the World’s Longest Picnic Blanket! Tickets for 2023 PICNIC LAND are now available on our website, and each $40 ticket provides you with admission for four and a souvenir blanket large enough to seat all of you! We’ll relax and dine on a winding, continuous row of colorful picnic blankets in hopes of breaking the world record. The event will be fun for all ages, featuring family-friendly activities, food trucks, professional story tellers, and live music. You can bring your own picnic dinner or purchase food at the park. Be sure to invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us, and order your tickets now at www.picnicland.org. The more who attend, the longer the blanket! All proceeds will support the work of the Waterfront Parks Foundation.
For 11 years, the Waterfront Parks Foundation has worked to preserve, protect and promote St. Petersburg’s magnificent waterfront parks system. Our journey since 2012 wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of many, from the generosity of the Majeed Foundation, to the invaluable help of our City's Parks and Recreation Department. With the collaboration of community leaders and stakeholders like you, we strive to ensure our parks flourish and remain a testament to our city's beauty. Through our foundation, we have held numerous park clean ups, beautified the parks with rotating flower beds, added lighting, and developed the first of numerous future park swings for the enjoyment of all. Your continued donations, engagement and feedback are vital to the preservation of our waterfront parks.
So, let's come together at PICNIC LAND, not just to break a world record but to celebrate a decade of preserving, protecting, and promoting our waterfront parks. Bring your families, your friends, and your picnic baskets and let's create another memorable chapter in our shared history!
