November 2023 Update

Welcome to the Loved & Shared Newsletter.

We work in partnership with our community to gift and rehome high-quality donated nursery and children's goods, ensuring all families have access to essential resources needed to raise thriving children, while reducing the amount of goods sent to landfill in our region.
Welcome from new executive officer Tyson
Thank you to all for the warm welcoming that the Loved & Shared community has provided since my commencement in August. I relish the opportunity to contribute my skills and passion in helping the wider community and there could not be a better place to exercise this than here at Loved & Shared.
I come equipped with a varied experience including working in local government, being a teacher and owning my own business all here in Warrnambool over the last 13 years. I love the Southwest and all it offers including being a great place to embrace my passions for the outdoors, beach and keeping active!
Most importantly is my love for my Family and partner, Katharine, and 2 kids Harley (8yo) and Mila (6yo) , 1 Dog and 2 chickens, that keep me motivated to be my best self, as well as keeping me humbled when required!!
Thank you to all who have visited and contributed to Loved & Shared since my commencement and I look forward to meeting more of this amazing community in the future. It takes a village!
Our Lady Help of Christians
Another amazing donation drive, hosted by Our Lady Help of Christians. The students and families engaged in a 3-week donation drive as well as a "hands on" volunteer program at the warehouse resulting in over 250kg of valued items that we will rehome, and avoid going to landfill. Incredible effort, thank you all who contributed!
Get in touch if you would like to host a mobile donation hub today!
Community Collaboration with County Womens Associations
It takes a village! Thank you to our south west community groups, Allansford CWA and Camperdown Evening CWA. They have lovingly hand made these beautiful rugs, hats, gloves and bears that will be gifted out soon! So cute!😍
Muliticultural Leadership Group Hands on Volunteering
Following the success of the first multicultural school celebration at Warrnambool College, students from the Multicultural Leadership Group (MLG) were supported by Lauren and Charlotte from @Warrnambool City Council in their focus to give back to the community during Term 3. Visiting the local charities of Western District Food Share and Loved & Shared, students learned about food insecurity, the benefits of volunteering and non-profit organisations, as well as the aid and relief that these organisations offer for many families across our South West District. Over several weeks, students from the MLG assisted the volunteers of Food Share to box up over 20 boxes of food, each weighing approximately 6kgs each. At Loved and Shared, MLG students helped to sort through some of the 95kgs of clothing donated by students and their families from Our Lady Help of Christians PS. The MLG students will be returning to these charities, and others within the local area, next year to continue their community involvement

"We are so proud to be supporting Loved and Shared and love seeing the incredible positive impact they are having on our local community."
Coles Gateway Plaza Donation
Sarah and the team at Coles Gateway Plaza have lovingly donated required toiletry essenstials. These items will be placed in our toiletry packs for our community. Stay tuned for more exciting awareness campaigns that the team at Coles and Gateway Plaza are planning for next year!
Sister organisation Big Group Hug
Big Group Hug have been amazing supporters to Loved & Shared, offering guidance and advice on how to operate and promote our new foundation. In addition to this, they have also collaborated with another sister organization, 3081Angels (Based in Heidelberg) to donate a huge 8 bags of children's clothing, which will keep our volunteer sorters busy. Thank you!
The goods were transported in kind by Allens Freight with Noelene ensuring the items where picked up and delivered. Thank you for your support!
South West Volunteer Expo 2023
We held a stall at this years South West Volunteer Expo at the Emmanuel Centre on Botanic road on  Saturday 7th of October. We had a fantastic day with our volunteers Aggie and Sabrina advocating for Loved & Shared, doing an amazing job to build more awareness of our organisation and aid in recruiting more volunteers to help us in our cause. Thank you to our amazing volunteers and all those who visited us on the day!
Peter from The Rotary Club Warrnambool
It's an absolute privilege to have Peter from The Rotary Club Warrnambool lend us a hand regularly with a variety of tasks both at the warehouse and out and about assisting in collection of donation drives around our area. Peter is also an amazing advocate for Loved & Shared, always sharing our story and purpose to our community. Thank you Peter, you are the best!
Wild Warrnambool and our Warehouse
On Friday, 8th September, Warrnambool put on a wild day for us at Loved & Shared. The constant wind pressure caused a fail in out large shed door that in turn has caused significant damage to some of our precious items for our community, as seen in some of the photos attached.
A BIG shout out to the team at Dowell windows who ensured our shed door didn't fly away first thing in the morning, and all involved at the SES that secured our roof panels that had been blown away. Another massive thank you to all the volunteers who have helped clean up and restore Loved & Shared warehouse back to its best.

Our Regional Need

20% of the population aged 0-8 in the region are considered vulnerable on 1 or more of the 5 critical childhood development criteria, this is significantly higher than the state average.

We aim to save 3+ tonnes of good quality items going to landfill every year.

Local data from four LGAs (Warrnambool, Moyne, Southern Grampians & Corangamite), confirm that 1 in 5 children live in poverty.

Loved & Shared is a community project initiated by Leadership Great South Coast 2020 Program Participants.

Please forward this on to anyone who might be interested, to help us build awareness.
