NEWS

Dear Pongers,

The temperature in Texas is hot, hot, hot, and so is table tennis action in Dallas!  After assisting the Dallas Fort Worth Table Tennis Club (DFWTTC) with the senior Dallas Golden Games on Saturday, Pongspace teamed up with DFWTTC again to kick off the George Braithwaite Major League (GBML) Texas regional competition on Sunday.  While this is the second season for GBML in the US, it is the first expansion of the league into the south for Pongspace.  We are excited to see so many table tennis enthusiasts, from grade school students to professional athletes competing against each other at the same venue for the first time in league history. Everyone is a champion!  If you haven’t joined us yet, NY and DC are going to kick off this Saturday.  JOIN US!

As a reminder, this Saturday the AYTTO Saturday Spin Camp will restart after a one-week break.  Register now if you don’t want your children to slack off for two weeks!  And if you plan to join the NCTTA alumni events in DC and Chicago, please select the optional donation to help collegiate table tennis.

Angela Guan is a master defensive player using long pips on her backhand.  While she chops with the pips frequently, she also utilizes punch blocks and slice blocks with the pips side of her racket.  In this week’s video, watch Angela Guan use these strategies, and take note of the differences between the two.

Our featured club of the week is the Illinois State University Table Tennis Club.  The club is a very inviting venue where current players and alumni have lots of experience and all want to take you to the next level.  Come find out for yourself what a friendly place this is.

There is a lot of physical movement in table tennis. As such, it helps you burn so many calories while also stimulating your brain. What a great activity!
