Deceased in July 2023, Reeves was born Ely Reeves Callaway III in November 1947 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Darien, Connecticut. He was the son of Ely Callaway Jr., whose own resume includes a highly successful, innovative
career in the textile industry during the 1950s and 60s, ultimately directing Burlington Industries as company president.
Following his retirement in 1973, the senior Callaway founded Callaway Winery and Vineyard, and went on to create Callaway Golf, now an icon in the sports world.
Reeves Callaway was a distinguished automobile aficionado, a national champion racing driver and a helicopter pilot. He was inducted into the National Corvette Museum Hall of Fame and The Great Hall, Bloomington Gold, for his contributions to the Corvette legacy.
