Artificial intelligence reality check
|
A report exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Ontario’s capital markets was recently published by the OSC. The report highlights current AI use cases, benefits and challenges, and aims to raise awareness of both the opportunities and risks associated with the use of AI in capital markets. An AI fraud prevention video was recently launched to warn people of the dangers of AI voice cloning scams.
To demonstrate the potential uses of AI, the OSC’s Investor Office Director, Tyler Fleming, posted a video to LinkedIn that he created for World Investor Week, an initiative of the International Organization of Securities Commissions. It used generative artificial intelligence to translate his messages into multiple languages – Spanish, Mandarin, German, Hindi, Italian and Japanese - voice, intonation, and facial expression and all.
