Silverstone National Circuit

HSCC Historic Touring Cars

15th October 2023, Silverstone for the last race in the Historic Mini
Last weekend we had our final Miglia race of the season, this weekend it was the last Historic Apendix K race of the season
-------------------------------

Qualifying - a couple of corners were needed to get used to the lack of brakes and grip compared to that of the Mini Miglia Nick was piloting round Silverstone last weekend with historic handling quite diffferent to the Mig
--------------------------------
Qualifying went ok, albeit with Nick trying to selct reverse when changing gear, a nigling trait of the remote gear selector when changing gear fast and hard ( racing driver excuse # 1 ) and a new untested rear suspension setup - which turned the Min iinto a drift car ! ( racing driver excuse # 2 )
Bill had dusted off his Mini and come along for some fun behind the steering wheel rather than the spanners for a change so we had both our Team Tweed Goodwood Mini's here to race
---------------------------
Nick qualified in 14th and Bill in 10th among a wide range of powerful machinery, Lotus Cortina, TVR, Sunbeam, BMW to mention a few
With the rear suspension back to normal, Nick had a good start, an intersting race with another reverse gear selection causing Nick to play catch up for a few laps
Still finishing with no damage and a grin on his face with Bill bring it home in 8th and Nick in 9th
Race two saw Nick starting next to Sir Bill on the grid and managed to fend him off to the first corner - then a battle ensued between the two Team Tweed titans swapping places over and over having a superb time with Oggy getting in the mix after a few laps -  Nick finishing in 8th and Bill in 6th
A great finish to the Historic season, great weather and superb racing.
Again our Swiftune engine and gearbox performed perfectly along with the setup from Bill making the Mini a joy to drive. Good old Steve on the spanners again making sure nothing was going to fall off
In car video as normal on Youtube along with some footage from the 360 degree camera ( when I get the software working ! )
