The Manitoba Historical Society, founded in 1879, is the oldest historical organization in Western Canada, and second oldest in all of Canada. We are advocates for preserving our province’s built heritage. Our journal, Prairie History, published three times a year, is devoted to the history of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the US borderlands. It contains well researched, scholarly articles as well as articles of general interest and book reviews. We present field trips throughout our province, host films and lectures, and organize multicultural events where Manitobans can share their rich past. Are you interested in the history of Manitoba and Western Canada? If so, the Manitoba Historical Society is for you! Membership is open to individuals, students, families, organizations, and businesses. Visit us at mhs.ca to learn more.
