Community Halloween Spooktacular

Join us for a spine-chilling evening of ghoulish delights at the Community Halloween Spooktacular on October 26th, kicking off at 6:00 pm! Get ready for a hauntingly good time filled with eerie decorations, creepy costumes, and thrilling activities for all ages. From a wickedly fun costume contest to sweets that will send shivers down your spine, this event promises a night of hair-raising fun that you won't want to miss.

Gather your family and friends for a spooktacular night at Moccasin Square Garden and brace yourself for a Halloween celebration like no other. Dress in your most terrifying attire and prepare to be bewitched by the eerie atmosphere – it's going to be a night to remember!

Powwow Pitch Winner!

Congratulations to Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc member, Ashley Michel on winning 1st place in the national Powwow Pitch competition! Check out her business, 4 Generations Creations a marketplace for authentic Indigenous fabrics, materials, art and aims to create designs that educate others about Indigenous issues & resiliency. Ashley plans to use the prize money of $25,000 to purchase her own direct to garner machine to bring her production in-house and in turn, open opportunities to hire a team from her community.

CER Community Engagement Session

Tk̓emlúps Members are invited to participate in Community Engagement Sessions to Discuss Updates to the TteS Custom Election Regulations (CER). A Vote to Amend the CER will take place at a GBM in the new year. All meetings will be 5pm - 8pm in the Assembly Hall at Chief Louis Center. Dinner will be served.

Secwepemctsín Language Conference 2023

Immerse in Secwepemctsín: Celebrate culture, language, and heritage. Join us November 3-5 at the Coast Hotel in Kamloops, BC for inspiration and connection! The organizers are inviting potential partners and sponsors to support the event through financial contributions. Proceeds from the event will be directed towards funding its activities. Vendors are also encouraged to participate by showcasing and selling their products.

C2C Forum

The City of Kamloops Mayor, Council and staff hosted Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Council and staff in the biannual Community to Community Forum. Topics that were discussed included Emergency Services collaboration, transit services, sanitary sewer agreement, Thompson River watershed management, Kamloops Fire Rescue, capital project update and the homelessness and opioid crisis, amongst others. The Community to Community Forum is one important way that the City of Kamloops and Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc continue to share information and collaborate.

Coffee with a Cop

Please note NEW location: Community Services, 300 Chilcotin Road

On Wednesday, November 1 at 10:00 am, Community Services (300 Chilcotin Road) will host our monthly Coffee with a Cop. This gathering aims to foster a better understanding between Tk̓emlúps RCMP and community members. The casual setting of the event will offer a chance to engage in conversations over coffee and tea. The organizers hope that this initiative will further strengthen the relationship between the police and the community. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Tkwenem7íple7 Dave Manuel and Q'wemtsin Health Society (QHS) Health Director Colleen Lessman met with representatives from the Ministry of Health to lobby to ensure Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc interests are being considered in the Province’s proposed new health information legislation.

Try-A-Trade today to experience the different trades within BC Hydro! The Try-A-Trade (TAT) program invites Indigenous candidates to participate in a paid job shadow work experience to learn about the trades in a workplace setting. Participants gain on the job experience, knowledge and skills while exploring their future career choices, creating connections and building a network at BC Hydro.

Notice of Planned Power Outage

There is a a planned power outage scheduled for Sunday, November 5, 2023 affecting all staff, businesses and tenants of the Chief Louis Centre. This outage is necessary for essential maintenance work to be carried out, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Treatment for Youth

Youth Substance Use Counselling & Treatment Services will support youth youth aged 12-24 who are seeking treatment for moderate to severe substance use in their community. Museum Advisory Committee

The Royal BC Museum is seeking to form an Indigenous Advisory Committee that will bring together 21 representatives from the seven language families across British Columbia to plan the redevelopment of the First Peoples gallery. Advisory Committee Member Qualifications

  • From a First Nation among one of the seven language families in BC
  • 2+ years’ experience in community engagement work
  • Work will in a team environment
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Have a strong understanding of Indigenous culture, and
  • Able to travel to the Royal BC Museum, in Victoria, BC, for 1–3 weeks of work between October 2023 and March 2024

K̓wséltkten Kristmas

K̓wséltkten Farmers & Artisans Market is calling on makers, bakers and growers to be part of our 3rd K̓wséltkten Kristmas. Date is Sunday, November 12th at the Coast Kamloops Hotel & Conference Centre. Market hours are from 10 am to 5 pm.

As there is a limited number of booths, vendor spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please email Tina at kwseltkten@cfdcofcifn.com or phone at 250-214-2436 for further information. Vendors need to have their application completed, sent in, and fees paid BEFORE they are considered as registered.
