Welcome to the October newsletter!

This month we have the pleasure of introducing one of our newest members, the Diocese of Lugo (north of Spain), with a feature article that takes us on a tour of its Diocesan and Cathedral Museum, one of the sites on the St James Way leading to the world-famous Santiago de Compostela.

We also review the activities of the last month, among which we highlight the exciting journey of a group of pilgrims from the Spanish National Police Corps who walked the Camino Lebaniego and whom FRH joined in Cades and Potes and the proclamation of the Venice Manifesto by cultural heritage organisations and professionals gathered at the European Heritage Summit held in Venice in September.

On the international scene, we would like to draw your attention to the Caceres Declaration, a document that calls for a more central role for culture in the policies of EU members. We also invite you to follow the Culture 2030 Goal campaign and apply to the Young Europe Heritage Makers competition.

We have reserved a space in this newsletter for the youth organisation ESACH to present their recent position paper "Youth for the Future of Cultural Heritage" in our Young Voices in Cultural Heritage section, as well as for a new
European Year of Skills interview, in which we meet Lorand Kiss, a restorer of church frescoes specialising in traditional techniques from the Romanian region of Transylvania.

As every month, we conclude with our latest Religiana list, which this time will take you on a tour of the 10 UNESCO-listed painted churches of the Troodos Mountains (Cyprus).

See you next month!

HELP HISTORIC ENGLAND TO FIND OUT "WHERE IS THAT PLACE?"
Historic England has an extensive photo archive of England's monuments and historic buildings. Some of them, however, have come down to us with little context about what we see, beyond what can be seen in the photo. Historic England is therefore asking for help cataloguing the Tuppen Collection, with photos from the 1930s and 1940s. Take a look at the collection on their Flickr, at the album called "Where is that place" and leave them a comment if you recognise any location!  READ MORE >>
