Come & Sing Messiah

Denby Dale Methodist Church is hosting “Come and Sing Messiah” with Chamber Orchestra on Sunday 26 November. The Musical Director will be Jane Hobson, with Soprano Ann Wilkes, Contralto Sarah Ogden, Tenor Justin Lavender and Bass Edward Robinson. The Search for Life on Other Worlds

Ben Rhydding Methodist Church are hosting a short series of lectures/talks to raise money for their charity of the year, Parkinson’s UK.


In “The Search for Life on Other Worlds”, Dr Alexis Smith (son of the late Revd Dr Liz Smith) will discuss the possibilities for finding life elsewhere in the Universe, and reveal how close we are to answering one of humanity’s oldest questions: are we alone in the Universe?


The talk will take place on Wednesday 22 November at 7pm, and is free to attend, though there will be a retiring collection in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

Lay Employees Retreat - Hidden Treasures

This Retreat is open to all Lay Employees in the Yorkshire Plus and North East Districts, with the theme of finding and celebrating the hidden treasures and riches in ourselves and our surroundings. A range of sessions are planned to help rediscover a sense of hope about what lies ahead and find a renewed calling to see where God is at work in and with us.


The Retreat is from the 10th to the 12th of April at Wydale Hall in Scarborough, and costs £240 (a subsidy of £120 may be available from your District towards this. If this has been confirmed, it will be automatically deducted from your invoice. A deposit is required to confirm your registration).

New Places for New People Pioneer -

Aire & Calder Circuit

New Places for New People Pioneer Job Advert

Aire & Calder Methodist Circuit are looking to appoint a Pioneer to lead, discern and develop a New Place for New People in Pontefract. The Pioneer will have experience of connecting with people and communities, leading and discerning new ways of being church, experimenting and pioneering, leading gatherings and conversations, and helping people to explore the Christian faith. The role requires 35 hours per week, to be worked flexibly in agreement with the Line Manager. This will be a permanent role based at Pontefract Methodist Church (WF8 1NB), and the salary will be £27,300 per annum, with enrolment in the circuit's workplace pension scheme. 


The appointment requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and satisfactory references, and an occupational requirement exists for the postholder to be a practising Christian.


The closing date for applications is Friday 03 November at 12 noon. Interviews will take place on Tuesday 14 November.

Facilities Manager - Calderdale Circuit

Calderdale Methodist Circuit are looking to appoint a Facilities Manager to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Circuit through the management of properties owned directly by the circuit, and assisting individual churches with their own property management strategies and policies. The role requires 20 hours per week, to be worked flexibly in agreement with the Line Manager, on an initial two years fixed term contract. The role will be home-based with a requirement to visit sites across the circuit, and the salary will be £22,857 per annum, with enrolment in the circuit's workplace pension scheme.


The appointment requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and satisfactory references.


The closing date for applications is Friday 17 November at 12 noon. Interviews will take place during the week commencing 27 November. 

Children, Families & Schools Worker -

St Andrew’s Methodist Church, Halifax

St Andrew's Methodist Church are looking to appoint a Children, Family & Schools Worker to assist in their Mission in the local community. The role requires 10 hours per week, with some core hours and the remainder to be worked flexibly, on an initial three year fixed term contract. The role will be based at St Andrew's Methodist Church, Halifax (HX2 0AT), and the salary will be £12.50 per hour with the option to enrol in the church's workplace pension scheme. 


An Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position. An occupational requirement exists for the post holder to be a practising Christian and in sympathy with the beliefs and doctrines of the Methodist Church.


The closing date for applications is Friday 01 December at 12 noon. Interviews will take place on the afternoon of Monday 11 December.

Exploring Digital Lunchtime Learning

Following on from the highly successful Exploring Digital Online Conference, the Connexional Team are offering space to explore the digital world in more detail. This is an opportunity to learn new skills, gain digital confidence, ask questions in a safe space and leave with a digital toolkit of resources and ideas for mission and ministry.


The Exploring Digital lunchtime learning series begins on Wednesday 15 November, 12:00-13:00 offering a basic introduction to AI - what is it, how you access it and how you can use it wisely in your ministry in the church?


This event will be recorded and available at a later date for those who sign up and register.

Conflict in Israel and Palestine

As the violence in Israel and Palestine continues, we may feel helpless in the face of such death and suffering. The Methodist Church has published resources, prayers, background information and reflections to help us pray for all those affected and for peace in the region.
