Greetings friends

We are at the end of the gathering festival, and the seven-day observance adds an eighth day.  You have been enjoying your meals and your contemplative time in your booth, your covering, your sukkah.

You had guests every day and shared food and companionship – the key elements of not just friendship but of family.  We know; we understand.  The countless years of wandering, of establishing and being driven from our homes have taught us that we must get along, we must share, we must encourage; we are all one.

We were reminded on our exodus from Egypt, from confinement, that we were aliens, and so we treat the alien as an equal.  Would that we all did.

The added eighth day of the holiday is the day for pure celebration.  We dance in joy.  It is known as Simcha Torah – simcha – rejoicing or celebrating and Torah – instruction.  We celebrate the great book of instruction we have now completed.
We read the last parsha and the first parsha to show the continuity of the circle of life of this great organic book.

We read it knowing what we read before but always getting something new out of it—a book with a beginning, middle, and end that actually has no beginning, middle, or end.

Continue to use the time to have a wonderful time for peaceful reflection and meditation, and think of how you can bring a positive impact to your world.

And please do continue to spread love and forgiveness and healing to all you know in need of renewal and see the blessings in your life; see the miracles; see the beauty; see the growth, see the opportunity – they are everywhere.  Take some time and make sacred time and sacred space a part of your life.
