We hope this message finds you well and thriving in your pursuit of lifelong learning. Sweater weather is finally here! As we embrace the beautiful autumn season, we are thrilled to share some new learning opportunities at OLLI. Our "Issues in the News." course is back in November, stay informed, engage in relevant discussions, and deepen your understanding of the world around you with this course. Also, Bill Allen is back teaching what he loves, with a one-day course, Oh, What a Beautiful Song!  Register and join us to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Movie Oklahoma!  We have several other classes coming up in October as well.  George deMan has a presentation on, October 17th, The (very!) Early History of the Earth,

Larry Saul has several one-day courses in October and November.  One starts tomorrow, October 12th, Army 101.  Larry has a great line-up of courses scheduled and another trip that he is planning for fall 2024. Below are a couple of pictures from September 2023 cohort trip with other OLLI programs. 
    


Also, Instructor Nutan Ahuja has a Thanksgiving Ikebana course , starting in just a few weeks.  Students are guided as they learn the art form and create beautiful arrangements. Here are examples of just a few our students completed recently.

You should have received an email last Friday to complete our annual survey.  Please help us by taking the time to complete this for us.  If you have already completed it this for us, no need to again.  We just wanted to send a reminder. it only needs to be done once. This information helps us with guiding the program and also, provides information needed to complete our Osher Foundation endowment end of year data. 

Fall Fiesta Event: Our Fall Fiesta Event is quickly approaching, and the response has been overwhelming! In fact, we are already over half full. Don't miss out on this fantastic chance to connect with OLLI Instructors and fellow members. It promises to be an enjoyable evening filled with enriching conversations, delicious refreshments, and an opportunity to make lasting connections within our vibrant OLLI community.

October Potluck is next week!  
Friday, October 20th at 12PM. Stuff your brain with knowledge and your belly with potluck goodies. It's the one place where you can finally debate the merits of werewolves versus vampires, have spooky debates over dessert, and make friends who understand that the only thing scarier than ghosts is missing out on this fun. You don't have to attend dressed in your costume, but the best costume wins one OLLI course in the new year!  Friday, October 20th 12PM

Help Us Bring the OLLI "Bring a Book, Take a Book" Library back to Life!
We are thrilled to announce the relaunch of the OLLI "Bring a Book, Take a Book" Library, a cFree Images : book, read, building, collection, shelf, furniture ...ommunity-driven project aimed at creating a space where members can freely exchange and explore books related to our diverse range of interests. This library will be a hub for knowledge-sharing, a place to discover new ideas, and an opportunity to connect with fellow members through the power of literature.

Journey Through Jane Austen's World: A Virtual Tour of Her Historic Home

Step into the enchanting world of Jane Austen as you embark on an OLLI special docent led virtual tour of her historic home. Located in the picturesque village of Chawton, Hampshire, Jane Austen's house is a literary treasure trove where the beloved author penned some of her most iconic works, including "Pride and Prejudice" and "Sense and Sensibility."


This virtual tour is a delightful journey through time, offering a unique glimpse into the world that shaped one of the most enduring voices in English literature. Whether you're a devoted Austen fan or simply curious about the author's life and legacy, our virtual tour of Jane Austen's house promises a captivating experience that transports you to a bygone era of romance, wit, and societal commentary.

There are two options when registering:  Register for the online Zoom option or register for the classroom experience. (in-person starts at 9:30 am, online tour starts at 9:45am)

Classroom Experience:  We will enjoy a breakfast that Jane Austen often ate.  Taste her favorite teas, rolls, preserves and muffins.  Each section has limited seats, due to museum restrictions.  Sign-up early to secure your seat. (First come first served)
