Gateways 2023 Tutorials
Free for all community members

Tutorials will be held virtually the week of October 23-27, 2023 before the conference. 

  • Monday, October 23: Interactive distributed computing with Jupyter, Python and Dask on Jetstream2 for Science Gateways
  • Tuesday, October 24: Open OnDemand App Development and Integration
  • Wednesday, October 25: CI/CD for High Performance Computation with Tapis Workflows (40 seat limit)
  • Thursday, October 26: Accessible Gateways: Communicating Inclusive Design Practices with Pattern Libraries
  • Friday, October 27: Accessible Gateways: Communicating Inclusive Design Practices with Style Guides

The Gateways annual conference is an opportunity for gateway creators and enthusiasts to learn, share, connect, and shape the future of gateways. We are excited to hear from 20 community presentations, a Globus demo, a Sustainability panel, Bring Your Own Portal presentations, posters, and our three keynotes:

  • Monday, October 30 Keynote: Alex Wright talking about "Design for Understanding"
  • Tuesday, October 31 Keynote: Wendy Nilsen talking about "How science domain experts can come together with technologists to form broader solutions."
  • Wednesday, November 1 Keynote: Joe Palca talking about "The Truth About Science Communication"

On-site registration ($600) and day passes ($200 each day) will be available for those still looking to join us for the conference. No on-site registration will be available for attendees under 21 years of age due to the venue's policies.

Gateways 2023 Program

VisDict Survey

The project VisDict aims at creating visional dictionaries to enhance the communication between computer scientists and domain researchers. The survey below fits for students to experienced professionals and takes only 7-8 minutes. It’s about ranking images to explain a term.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the VisDict Survey before October 31.
