Whether you’ve been with us from the start or have only recently discovered us, thank you for turning to the Investigative Project on Race and Equity as a trusted source for news and training the next generation of investigative reporters who will make a difference in Chicago and beyond.

I’m here with a quick note to let you know that today we're launching our NewsMatch campaign, a powerful collaborative fundraising movement to support independent journalism. Help us reach our $50,000 fundraising goal.

Here’s how it works:

  • Any contribution you make, up to $1,000, through Dec. 31 will be doubled.
  • However, today, there’s a chance to make your donation go further thanks to a $3,000 bonus in matching funds through the Institute for Nonprofit News for our dedication to serving communities of color in Chicago. That means when we raise $3,000, it will be matched twice — once by the NewsMatch national fund and once by a partner fund made possible with support from Knight Foundation and the Heising-Simons Foundation.

The public needs journalists to monitor public and private institutions. And no one else in Chicago is doing investigative journalism exclusively through a lens on race and equity.

If you believe in the work we’re doing, join us now and double the impact of your donation.

With gratitude,

Laura S. Washington
