Empower Communities: Support Your Library through Crucial Public-Private Partnerships!
Dear Friend,

I hope this message finds you well, and you're enjoying the holiday season!

As we wrap up another incredible year at the Santa Barbara Public Library, I wanted to take a moment to express my genuine gratitude for your unwavering support to the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation. Your commitment to this partnership has truly been a game-changer, propelling us into exciting new horizons and broadening the spectrum of opportunities we offer to learners of all ages.

Your generosity has allowed us to dive into some pretty cool initiatives that have struck a chord with our community. Let me share a few stories that highlight the real impact of your contribution.
Remember the Library on the Go? Our outreach van has been making waves, bringing books, services, and programs right to your neighborhood. One parent couldn't stop gushing about it: "You guys are amazing! My kid lights up every time the library van rolls in. Today, with a stack of books in hand, he declared it was the best part of his day. That's saying something!"
Then there's OG Readers, our program that gives struggling readers a helping hand. We kicked off 2023 with a heartwarming tale – a 4th grader, who was once part of OG Readers, stopped by the Library during the holiday break. She left with a mountain of books, proudly sharing that she's now receiving awards for reading in school, including the coveted 1 million words award!
And of course, Santa Barbara Reads – an annual tradition funded by the Library Foundation. This year's selection, A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende, provided some great opportunities including a community chess day, a panel discussing translation, multiple book discussion groups in Spanish and English, and more events for all ages. The community's feedback has been nothing short of inspiring:

- "SB Reads widens my perspective on the world – keep it up!"
- "SB Reads programming is not just meaningful; it's necessary."
- "SB Reads encourages me to be more involved with the community."
- "SB Reads is the reason I've rekindled my love for reading."
By championing the Santa Barbara Public Library, you're actively backing the success stories of students, workers, families, and seniors. We're thrilled about the journey ahead and can't wait to keep empowering and enriching lives, with you right by our side.

Remember, the impact we create together relies on these strong partnerships between public and private entities. Thank you, once again, for your dedication to the Santa Barbara Public Library and the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation.

With the deepest appreciation,

How to Give?

We encourage you to consider other ways to give and support the Santa Barbara Public Library.

Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs):
Set up a charitable remainder trust, where you transfer assets to a trust, receive income for a specified period, and then the remaining assets go to the charity.

Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs):
Similar to CRTs, charitable lead trusts provide income to a charity for a certain period, after which the remaining assets go to beneficiaries, such as family members.

To explore the option of setting up Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) or Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs), it's recommended that you consult with professionals who specialize in estate planning, financial planning, and charitable giving.

Employee Matching Programs:
Check if your employer offers a matching gift program. Many companies match their employees' charitable contributions, effectively doubling the impact of your donation.

Honoring Taylor Woodward with Holiday Joy

As we embrace the holiday season, we find ourselves immersed in the spirit of giving, cherishing family traditions, and creating lasting memories. This year,  Anne Woodward, daughter of the beloved Taylor Woodward, and granddaughter Beverley, have touched our hearts with a heartwarming initiative to spread holiday cheer through the magic of books.

During the Woodward Grove ribbon-cutting ceremony, Beverley shared a heartfelt revelation – her fondest memory with her grandfather was the annual tradition of reading "The Night Before Christmas." A tale that transcends generations, bringing families closer during the festive season. The Woodward family wanted other families to share in this memory and has generously donated copies of "The Night Before Christmas" in both English and Spanish.

Families at the Arlington Christmas Tree Lighting were shocked to receive such a generous family gift and looked forward to coming together around the book this year. Thank you to the Woodward Family for honoring such an incredible man and grandfather and sharing your family traditions.
