CHANGING OF THE (PRESIDENTIAL) GUARD AT BIOSKI

At our recent AGM, outgoing President- Janet Gasparini had the following to say:
"As I prepare this annual report it is with some sadness  and a great deal of pride.  I have finished my term as Chair of the BioSki Board and while I will remain supportive for a year in the Past President position, and an avid skier at the BioSki, my leadership role is coming to a close.

It has been a real pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic and competent group of individuals who have committed themselves to the work required to ensure that the ski club remains vibrant and successful. "

Janet indicated how pleased she was to be passing the baton to Paul Sauve, who has worked diligently as the Vice Chair and brings a new perspective to the Club's leadership.  She committed to supporting Paul in the transition.

Introducing Paul Sauve:
Hello to all BioSki members,

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.  My name is Paul Sauvé and I have just been named as your new President.  I am very honoured as well as excited to be part of such an enthusiastic and talented team!  I would like to thank the past President, Janet Gasparini, for her wonderful work and dedication as our leader these past few years.  I have already learned a great deal from her and I am thrilled that she will remain on the Board as an important adviser to me.  It is very obvious that we both truly love the BioSki!

I was born and raised here in Sudbury and I have spent my entire life enjoying the network of trails surrounding Lake Laurentian.  I am a 46 year old Primary School Teacher and a proud father of two amazing kids.  For as long as I can remember, I have loved cross-country skiing and I feel that activity is the secret to a happier life.  The BioSki to me is all about Biology, Ecology, Conservation as well as active and positive living.  For these reasons, I am delighted to be able to volunteer and fully participate at such a fantastic club.

My vision as President will be to continue working to provide wonderful classic cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails for the community.  I plan to learn from all the other Board Members and I will focus on creating a dynamic team based on mutual respect, appreciation and positivity.  I understand that the BioSki has been built by hundreds of volunteers in its 50 years of existence and we will continue to celebrate these remarkable efforts at our monthly social events.  I look forward to meeting all the members and to hearing their thoughts on how we are doing as a club.  I am very grateful to Conservation Sudbury and I will continue to promote our symbiotic relationship.  I believe that the BioSki also has the opportunity to teach the next generation about Sudbury’s Natural History by highlighting the area’s ecology.  In essence, I feel that the BioSki is a wonderful mix of Biology and activity.

I hope to see you all very soon on the trails!

Paul
