The Grand Hall at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.
The November History Exploration Days event at the MO History Museum, a monthly occurrence with different themes, will be all about Civics & Government on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm both days. The MO History Museum has asked Civitas to be a community partner this month since we are all about inspiring active citizens, so Civitas will have a booth in the Grand Hall for both days. The booth will be an opportunity for people in our community to learn about what Civitas offers and also for students who stop by to engage in a couple of activities; one will be to identify well-known public figures locally, nationally, and internationally by matching their picture to their name; the other will be to find certain locations on a world map.

We would love to have Civitas students who already know about what Civitas offers to help us at our booth on both days. Some area schools are off on Friday, but if you have school on Nov. 10, Saturday is an opportunity to help us. Volunteering for an hour shift on either day will earn you a Gamechanger point and also be a lot of fun! There will be other activities being offered on both days related to the theme, so plan some extra time to also explore the museum. Everything will be free for all.

If you are interested and available to help, please CLICK HERE to sign up for a shift.

Sign Up for High School Model UN ASAP!

Delegates voting at a HSMUN Session C last December.
The first Model UN sessions for high school students are 2 weeks from Saturday! Since we have so many schools with additional students on a waitlist, delegates need to sign up soon. Civitas will notify schools by Monday, November 6 if it looks like there will be room for more students at any of the three sessions. Teachers and student leaders, please let us know if your numbers have dropped. And if a student signs up who can no longer make it, have them email us so we know of the opening.
Click here to reach the signup form (same form for all 3 sessions).

In addition to continuing your country research, delegates should be considering resolution topics. This year each session has 12 or more schools participating, so we can only accept two resolutions per school. We encourage students/countries to collaborate with resolution writing. Please contact Stephanie (gavinstephanie89@gmail.com) if you would like a school visit to talk about resolution-writing. Final resolutions are due NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT on the Tuesday before your session so we have plenty of time to create the master copy and send it to FedEx for printing. The deadline to submit resolutions for the November 18 sessions is Tuesday, November 14 by midnight. As we receive resolutions, they will be posted on the Civitas website for delegates to review in advance.
Middle School Class Visits Underway!
Delegates at Brittany Woods had a lot of fun during their class visit.
Middle School Model UN class visits are currently underway! In the past few weeks we've been to a number of schools including Holman Middle, John Burroughs, Brittany Woods, and Crossroads College Prep. Students are thinking about what countries to represent and looking at international issues through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals. There have also been a lot of conversations about the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Middle school students are engaged and concerned about current events.

In the next few weeks we will be visiting Pattonville Heights, Lafayette Prep Academy, and returning to St. Louis Homeschool Network. If you would like a classroom visit, please contact our middle school coordinator, Bobbi Kennedy at bobbidkennedy@gmail.com.
