Dear All St. Patrick’s Members!
A resounding thank you to all who attended our pledge campaign luncheon last Sunday and especially to those who responded so generously to the “Capital Improvements” appeal.
Those special gifts will help pay for the major repair on the big window side of the church and for new LED lights just installed in the church and for the much needed installation of new heater/ air conditioning heat pump units in the library and the common room. Our 40-year-old church is restored and renewed, hopefully for many more years. Thank you, all.
The pledge cards for 2024 were also given personally to all who attended the luncheon and pledge cards have been mailed to those who were not present.
Please plan to bring back your pledges on or before Sunday, November 19th, our “Ingathering” day. Then we can begin to build the budget for 2024.
Finally, you are especially invited to the Wednesday service this week which happens to be November 1st, All Saints Day, which is one of the Principal Feasts of the church year. We will continue to meet in the Education building for that service. We have found that meeting there enhances our discussions and our interactions with each other. We always have anointing for healing at the Wednesday services, also. You are invited!
Thank you and God Bless you.
Father Ed

A Visit to the
Carmelite Of Prayer
|
|
|
St. Patrick's Faith Field Trip participants ventured to the Carmelite House of Prayer Monastery, on Thursday, October 19th. They were treated to scenic vistas of the Napa Valley, an industrialist's mansion converted to a monastery, impressive bucolic grounds, and a stately chapel.
It was the warmest day of the month but that did not deter the ten parishioners who drove (the long way!) to Oakville in the Napa Valley to visit the historic monastery and retreat center.
The Carmelite House of Prayer is part of the Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa. There are six priests and two brothers who reside there. Penance and prayer are themes of the community.
Originally it was built to be the home of a wealthy industrialist, David Dock. It was begun in 1917 and completed in 1921. Weeks and Day, of San Francisco, were the designers. The landscaping was by John McLaren, the renowned designer of Golden Gate Park.
Stephanie Chapralis McCaffrey provided information about the Monastery where she had previously "retreated" , and Fr. Ed lead all in prayer in the chapel.
After the monastery visit the group motored south to Napa to the charming Fume restaurant for a taste of Napa Valley. A delightful day for all!

Greetings Friends! Check out Eleanor's thankful note to her volunteers from Monday, October 23. The team will return again on November 13.

Dear All,
Thank you to Beth, Ned, Polly, Natalie, driver Tomie and rep Arturo. 48 households/160 individuals received a huge variety of food tonight in St Pat's parking lot!
Again, there were some "newbies." Of interest, a young lady on an Ebike popped in. She was riding along Hwy 12, saw our sign and came in close to closing. She has just lost her job, couldn't pay rent and didn't know where food would come from. Joy was written all over her face as she loaded her bike! Also of interest, Natalie (volunteer) knows her and offered to help with whatever wouldn't fit on her Ebike! We don't usually hear the many other stories, but this impact was easy to see!
One regular client is on dialysis and comes directly from treatment. She doesn't have the strength to walk through, but a volunteer collects food and puts it in her car. The look of appreciation on her face tells it all.
Scheduled for Monday, Nov 13 are Pan/Larry and Carolyn W. Two more are needed. Please let me know if you can help.
~Eleanor

1 pop top can of pasta with meat
1 juice box
1 granola-type bar
1 package of crackers with cheese or peanut butter
A napkin and sturdy plastic fork
Place everything in a quart-sized plastic bag. The stretchable Glad bags work very well. If you like, you can include a short hopeful message.
